MasukChapter 51
Jace's POV
She stepped closer, tears streaming down her face, "You just told the mother of your child that she isn't capable of raising your son... Your heir, whom she raised alone in her womb for nine months while you didn't even know he existed."
Something flickered in Denis's mind. He stepped back from her.
"You think I am no one without you? But I t-thought... I t-t-thought I am your m-mate." These words struck my wolf like a spear.
Guilt exploded over him like a storm cloud. Feeling the weight of his mistakes, he moved back in the deep recesses of my mind, leaving me alone to do the damage control.
'You overly-conceited beast, I'll deal with you later.' I screamed at him before I sought after scooping up like the broken pieces of a precious heirloom.
But Jenna had already heard enough. She wiped her tears determined then her eyes settled on me.
What were soft sapphire pools before had now frozen into icy lagoons.
"Don't worry, Alpha King Jace. I won't take your heir with me. And what you said was right— I can't raise him alone. I don't have your money or strength. They will harm him the minute I go out."
She began her march towards the door. Jenna looked back at me one last time with that 'I may not be dead physically yet, but you killed my soul' look, and stepped out.
"Jenna, don't go." I hastened to go after her.
In the corridor, I found myself alone. She perhaps used super speed to get away from me.
'Jenna, please—' I tried to connect with her on the mind link, but some other voice pushed its way in and said, 'Jace, Jared was playing with his toys. He swallowed something and he's choking on it. Please come here."
~~~~
That was mom's voice. Jared was with her. I ran to her room to the sight of my son struggling to breath in her arms.
I immediately picked him in my arms and held him upside down. I tried to take the miniature stuff out while my stomach was numb.
My wife had just left the room, claiming that she was leaving; and here my son's life was in danger.
I held him upside down and slapped his back harder and harder. I was probably not doing it right given Jared's choking never stopped. But it was slowly making my blood stop circulating. I could feel my son's heart struggling. Could feel his ragged choked breaths.
All sorts of negative thoughts unfurled in my mind.
"Jace!" Oakley yelled from the door. "I got the doctor here."
He ran inside the room and took Jared from my arms. I felt like I was electrocuted when I looked at my baby's face. It was dark pink. He was struggling for his life.
"P-please save him. Please..." I choked on my own voice.
Luckily it was the senior doctor of my kingdom. He assured me everything will be well and used a different technique to unchoke Jared's throat. To all of our shock, within seconds Jared coughed out the miniature chair along with a lot of foamy saliva.
"There's nothing to worry, Your Majesty. Prince Jared is safe." The doc handed him out to me.
My son desperately clung to me, his little arms spasmed around my neck. I held him tight like he was a piece of me and sobbed quietly. My baby was shaking. I rubbed his back and shushed him to calm down.
"Mamma. Mam-Mamma." He cried.
"I also tried to mind link Jena beside you and Oakley, Jace. She had blocked me out. Where is she? She should be here with Jared. Look at him. He's shaking badly." Mom said.
I hugged my son tighter as I pressed my lips together.
(Fifteen minutes later)
Jared had slipped into sleep while crying in my arms. I gave him to mom and ran out in my wolf form. Jenna's scent was still in the air. It pumped my blood with desperation. I galloped out onto the street in search of her.
I looked everywhere I could find her. Alas, she was gone. She really left me.
Denis was searching around madly too. The fear of going through that grave pain of a breaking mate bond was harassing him. Moreover, he loved Jenna too.
'I won't complain if you inject yourself with wolf bane to punish me, Jace. This is my fault. Jenna left because of me.' He sobbed.
I could've done worse to him. For starters, I honestly desired to run into a tree or drag him to the farms where wolfsbane was grown for medicines and bullets. The pollen grain filled air would serve him right. When they would go into his system with air, it would hurt more than the excruciating pain of third degree burns.
But doing that meant taking myself down that road that led to grave.
And I didn't want to die. I have a son and a wife. Though the latter was severely heartbroken, I had hoped that if I got a chance to explain my situation to her then she would understand.
(Five hours later)
I searched everything— including in the woods and the royal park. There was no trace of her.
Pain ploughed through me as I returned home, feeling like I just came back from a cemetery after burying a loved one.
"Did you find her?" Mom caught me on the door of the room. I had come back in my wolf form.
I motioned with my head to say no.
Her eyes brimmed with tears. She didn't say anything but she held my wolf's face in her palms and put her forehead against mine.
"Everything will be alright. Jenna will come back, okay?"
I wish that too. But I know that's not happening.
"Your dad is in the gardens with Jared. Don't worry about him. He's our responsibility unless you find Jenna."
I made a sound in the back of my wolf's throat to say that I acknowledged that. Then I came to my room. I turned to my human form. My body was glistening with sweat, soil and the smell of loneliness.
I dropped on the bed in my naked form, my feet planted on the floor. My hands were extended wide beside me as I stared up at the ceiling.
It was over. My life was over.
All the dreams I saw about growing old with my chosen mate were shattered.
Jenna is a dignified woman. I know she would prefer to die rather than coming back to me. She loves our son more than her own life. But because of what my wolf did... I did in his force, she would even forget him.
Torrents of salt slipped down the corner of my eyes. I closed my eyes and laid there. My body was hot and aching from all the hasty running. It needed a hot relaxing bath.
But what is relaxing without your mate? What is relief when she's not around?
Pain like a thousand blows bruised and battered my heart. I completely lost the sense of my surroundings. I lost the sense of hearing and feeling. I became so vulnerable at that moment that I failed to heed that someone knocked on my door.
Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled.She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug
Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it
Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first.He was
Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil.All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest.My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team
Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
