The Eighth Time
We hadn’t walked far down the street when Henry, still half-asleep, suddenly jolted awake by a sharp pang in his chest.
Out of nowhere, an overwhelming sense of dread gripped him.
He shoved a sleepy Alice aside and hurried to the bedroom.
However, when he opened the door, not only was I gone, but every trace of me had disappeared.
All that remained was a crumpled jar of healing salve.
Henry’s face went pale in shock.
“Nicole!”
Alice, disturbed awake by his movement, found Henry pacing the room in panic, muttering to himself.
“This can’t be… No way! She promised she’d apologize to Alice. She probably just went to get ingredients for the menu. Nicole wouldn’t just leave!”
