60 JANET FLASHBACK The battlefield was quiet now, but the silence felt more ominous than the chaos of battle. The scent of blood hung thick in the air, and the cries of the wounded echoed in the distance. I stood at the edge of the clearing, watching the remnants of Marcus’s forces retreat into the woods, defeated again.

THE LUNA'S FATE; A Cursed Omega's Rise

THE LUNA'S FATE; A Cursed Omega's Rise

Their silence was worse than any insult. Then my warriors followed. My pack warriors. The ones I had marched into this territory with pride and purpose. Now they looked at me like strangers—as if they didn’t recognize me anymore. They didn’t speak, didn’t nod. They just walked out, heads bowed. The silence that filled the room afterward was unbearable. It wasn't just the absence of sound—it was a roaring, deafening void that swallowed everything. The air was heavy, thick with shame and disbelief, pressing against my chest like a physical weight. I could hear my heartbeat thudding in my ears, loud and erratic. The distant crackling of a fire in the hall outside seemed foreign, like the world

The Bookstore Temptation

The Bookstore Temptation

The soft groan of wood rang out in the quiet bookstore as Lena turned over the last sign on the door: **CLOSED**. Outside, the city drew a breath, illuminated by amber streetlights and the quiet rumble of passing cars. Within, the world held its breath. Warm. Intimate. Holy.

That silence your moments to meditate and contemplate your thoughts and emotions. I already had a good novel in my hand. I laughed after admiring the words written by Jane Austen.

Unforgiven Luna

Unforgiven Luna

--- Here is an **800-word sample** of an English reading comprehension passage (suitable for B2/C1 level testing), which you can build upon: --- **The Silent Village** For three generations, the village of Oakhaven had existed in near-perfect silence. Not the silence of emptiness — birds still sang, wind still rustled through the ancient oaks — but the silence of human restraint. The villagers spoke only when necessary, and even then in whispers. Visitors often found it unsettling, as if they had stepped into a dream where sound itself had been outlawed.

The alpha rejected me

The alpha rejected me

But the truth was that noise was the best companion when the war was over and my parents were unheard at home. "Silence was what I heard before the bloodbath took place in the war," I admitted, and I watched her pause in surprise. "It's hard to explain because a war itself is noisy, but there is a moment when everything goes quiet; not even the animals make noise, and the wind itself decides to make silence to give tension to a moment as raw as a battle is. The energy expended is so much that then everything explodes, and a part of my mind chose to quiet the background noise to understand what was going on around me."

The Alpha's Cursed Bride

She said: "Yes." Maren said: "Because it has become familiar." She said: "Yes." She said: "The first book was loud." Maren said: "Very." She said: "The fourth book is quiet." Maren said: "Yes." She said: "That is the distance." Maren said: "Yes." She said: "Not from loud to quiet." Maren said: "No." She said: "From unfamiliar to familiar." Maren said: "Yes."

The Alpha Who Rejected Me

The Alpha Who Rejected Me

"Richard’s front lines are moving faster than our scouts predicted. The lower trenches have fallen." I didn't answer immediately. My eyes tracked the movement across the chasm. The Western army moved with terrifying precision. Their bronze armor caught the weak northern sunlight, reflecting a cold glare that illuminated the thousands of spears marching in perfect synchronization. They didn't look like men; they looked like a golden serpent slithering forward to constrict the throat of the North.

The Quiet Was Final

The Quiet Was Final

My fingertips went cold for a second, but I felt no regret. Turning away, I walked over to the river's edge and let the ring drop from my fingers into the water. "Let the past sink to the bottom," I whispered. The river rippled once, then stilled, as if nothing had ever happened. The sun still shone brightly, and the breeze was gentle. All those past hurts that once took my breath away were just a tiny drop in the vastness of the world. I lifted my head and started walking toward the far-off horizon.

The Alpha King's Plus Size Mate

No struggle. No resistance. Just clean, precise kills. The battlefield fell silent. The crowd fell silent. So quiet— That even the drop of a pin would have been heard. No one spoke for a moment. No one moved. Then finally, a voice broke through the silence. "who… is that warrior?"

It’s a very interesting read. I was surprised when it turned out so mystical. The grammar is off and some words are used wrongly, but it is still fairly understandable. What happened to her mate who came to find her? She seems to have forgotten him completely.
