I whisper to myself, a smile tugging my lips. I take a look outside and scan the darkened clearing. There are no guards and no movement. This is it. I run. The cool night air whips against my face as I push forward, my feet barely touching the ground. I don’t know how far I will get, and I don’t care. I just run. The only thing that matters is putting as much distance between me and that place as possible. After what feels like forever, I hear the sound of moving cars from a distance.

It was a picture of my family, taken moments ago, with a single word beneath it which was heart pounding. Run.

I ran on, tearing everything in my path. I tripped, I crashed into a few more branches and rocks. I ha d no idea where I was going. I just kept running. I could feel my body embracing the weakness. I had hit on obstacles so much that I was bleeding everywhere. But I still didn’t… I just couldn’t give up. I can’t get trapped in that fog.

We ran and ran and let our feet bring us to the right place. That place that seemed nowhere yet everywhere.

Pushing the door open, he squinted through the dim light. The air was thick with the scent of disinfectant and stale air. As he staggered towards the urinals, he collided with a broad figure, his senses heightening. “Watch it.” A low husky voice growled, a hint of warning in it.

The front door looms ahead. Suddenly, someone steps in front of me. I crash into their chest and fall onto the ground. Here's the thing about running: it doesn't matter if you're the fastest person in the world. You can't go forever.

I have nothing left here. Without thinking twice, I run.
