Beneath A Marble Sky Novels & Stories

“Sir?” “No mistakes this time,” I said quietly. “If he gets anywhere near her… I want to know before he gets to her.” There was a short silence on the line, then Marco answered, his voice low. “Understood.” I ended the call, exhaling slowly as I pulled over by the side of the road. For a long time, I just sat there, staring out through the windshield at the fading sky. The sun had dipped low, painting the world in shades of gold and gray. It should have been peaceful but it wasn't.

Sparks slowly surrounded him and it went swiftly, onto the sky. “WHAT THE?! Arius you jerk! Both of you hide now quick!” Niara shouted but we can’t respond. The next thing we knew, we were all panicking because of the lightning appearing, nonstop! Orlene and I quickly ran and hid inside the house. What the hell did he just do?! Does he want us dead?! Amansinaya stayed outside. I suppose that she could protect herself. What the heck just happened?! END OF CHAPTER 13

"The sky is almost blue and when you enter the house, it's like entering a new place with several caves, dungeons, and courtyards." "Yes." Kurt nodded earnestly. "You seem to know the place, Madam Su. That Is exactly how it is!" "The house of Zote are really despicable creatures. That was indeed a treasure that belonged to the house of Camel. It was borrowed to the five families for the medical experiments. When the Zotes wiped out the Camels, they took over all their estates including that treasure. It's a place where time and space are irrelevant. As long as you are in it, your biological clock will stop. You will never age and the space will keep expanding as long as you need it to."

Falling should’ve felt loud. Screaming. Wind. Chaos. But the plunge into the darkness beneath the facility was silent—too silent. It was like being swallowed by a void that didn’t need sound to terrify you. Damien’s hand was clamped around mine, his grip desperate, nails digging into my skin as if he feared letting go meant losing me forever. The darkness swallowed everything, but after a few seconds, a strange, soft blue glow appeared below—like bioluminescent water. We hit it hard, except it wasn’t water. It was thicker, like gel or mist that held us before slowly lowering us to a solid surface.

The company whose skyscraper dominated the city skyline, whose CEO regularly appeared in business magazines with that trademark scowl, whose reputation for excellence was matched only by whispers about its cutthroat culture. The elevator bank was tucked behind a curved wall, accessible only with a badge. I pressed mine against the sensor, and a soft chime indicated my clearance. The doors slid open silently, revealing an interior lined with the same dark marble as the lobby floor. I stepped inside alone, grateful for a brief moment to breathe.

The rain hadn’t stopped all day. It drummed steadily against the penthouse windows, turning the skyline into a hazy watercolor of lights and shadows. Isabella sat at the kitchen counter with a book open in front of her, though she hadn’t read a single word in ten minutes. The smell of something cooking pulled her out of her thoughts. She turned toward the kitchen island and blinked. Matteo Moretti — mafia heir, ruthless negotiator, man of calculated danger — was standing in front of the stove, stirring a pot of sauce.

Amber liquid bled across the marble, seeping into the cracks like a spreading bruise. The world outside was still moving, with the sounds of cars honking, distant chatter, and morning traffic a few miles away, but inside, everything was sharp and silent. Out on the patio, Sky was startled by the noise. She’d been sitting cross-legged on the cushioned rattan chair, scrolling absently through her phone with a cup of green tea beside her. The crash jolted her upright. “Jace!” she called, panic threading through her voice. “What happened?”

Their youngest son is named Anthony, in memory of her second chance mate. As Sky strolls with her children, she receives a telepathic message from Marco warning that Max has escaped his cell and she must head to the safe house but before she can respond her body becomes still and she feels a knife at her throat. Zion, after receiving an urgent message about Sky's silence and Max's escape, rushes down only to find Max threatening Sky with a knife and a woman levitating the children above the water. Zion collapses, pleading for the safety of his mate and children. He telepathically contacts Marco and Jessica for help, informing them of the situation.

"To be cooked? To be suffocated?" "To be transformed." Malakai pointed out the glass. The New York skyline wasn't a city anymore. It was a graveyard of floating steel. Cars drifted between skyscrapers like slow-motion bullets. The sky wasn't black or blue. It was a thick, pulsing amber. It looked like the inside of a clouded eye. "We’re not on a planet," Malakai whispered. The violet cracks on his neck flared. "We’re inside a womb. And the Mother just turned off the lights."

They were falling from the sky like black raindrops, aimed directly at the Shadow-District. "They're not waiting for a surrender," Mara shouted, her pulse-rifle over her shoulder. "They're going for total liquidation. If those pods land, the slums are gone." "They won't land," I said, my silver wings expanding until they touched the walls of the chamber. I looked at Dante. The "Toxic Bond" was gone. The "Rejected Heiress" was dead. "Dante, I'll take the sky," I said, a dark, defiant grin crossing my face. "You take the ground. Let's show the Hegemony what happens when the merchandise fights back."
