Beta Reading Definition Novels & Stories

My eyes flicked between them, curiosity getting the better of me. Clay and Luke exchanged glances as if mentally negotiating who would field this one. Finally, Luke cleared his throat. "A Beta is like the Alpha's right hand, his confidant, advisor, and also his backup muscle. In human terms, think vice president meets head of the secret service." "But it's more than that," Clay continued, walking over to stand by Luke. "It's about trust, about knowing that someone has your back, no matter what. It's a bond almost as deep as an Alpha and their Luna."

he finally lets go. Coughing trying to catch my breath I say “ Well, what are you then?” “I'm the Beta,” He says proudly. Now I understand why he was being all macho man on me because being a Beta means you are the secondhand man to the Alpha and the most trusted one too. Whatever, the important things right now is to find out why his Alpha wants me. “ Why would your Alpha wants me?, can I get some water?” my throat was very dry.

she began and then I felt it. I am a beta. Me being a beta means that I am in between an alpha and a gamma or an omega depending with who my parent were. Betas don't go through heats like omegas or ruts like alphas. We only usually get aroused by our mates pheromones and we aren't affected by any other. Thus, except Mason and Alex, no one else could arouse me forcibly not unless I was willing to. There is only one way of making a beta go in heat like and omega and that's by inducing a temporary one.

The distance was short—easy to jump. I leapt down and stood before her. She was small and pretty. "Your hair is red. I’ve never seen it before," she said. I found her funny and giggled. "You can touch it if you want." Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she gently tapped my hair, visibly amazed. "Betas are the warriors of a pack. They fight and protect everyone. They’re strong-willed. Don’t be sad that you’re a beta. You’re pretty, too," I said with a reassuring smile.

If anyone was going to figure it out, it was him. Still, I had pretended. He had pretended. And so we played the game. “Speak for yourself,” Brian interjects, smirking. I glance at him, my brows furrowing slightly in surprise. A slow, amused grin tugs at the corners of his lips. “Oh, come on!” he scoffs, rolling his eyes. “How low are your expectations of me? I’m your beta by birthright and by choice. You think I wouldn’t recognize my true alpha?” He tilts his head, feigning offense. “Give me some credit here.”

he asked, confused. Penny paused and looked over at him, “Where is your dad?” she countered back. “My dad is home. He is the beta of our pack. I will also become a beta when I will grow up,” Adam told her proudly. Penny was confused. “What is a beta?” she asked. Adam’s eyes popped out. “You don’t know? Everybody knows beta. He is the top warrior of a pack second only to alpha,” Adam explained to her. “Who is alpha?” this all only confused her more.

However, instead of helping, Aaron just shrugged, leaving his beta alone to face his children's questions. "I'm your father's beta," Edric finally replied, though he doubted if the children would understand what beta meant. And sure enough, the three children only looked at him more confused. "Beta?" Loudy repeated the word in a surprised tone. "What's that?" Edric sighed, then tried to explain in a simpler way. "A Beta is a confidant of an Alpha. I'm in charge of helping and protecting your father." Lucille narrowed her eyes, then looked at Aaron. "So, dad is important?"

she blurts out, frowning and starting to think, "Yeah, it's a little strange, wolves are only supposed to fall in love with their person. Their mate. But in that case, that person would have to feel the same way about you… and you say this boy doesn't seem to have the same reactions to you, right?" "Right. And not only that, the guy is a beta," I say and that confuses my mother even more. Not only does it confuse her, I can see her snobby self come out a little and she gives me a strange look. I can almost hear what she's going to say even before she says it.

He has no intention of making this quick. “Let me savor you,” he says. “Let me come,” I snap back. He backs away even more until his hands cover my knees and his mouth is too far away from where it should be. His eyebrow raises, and his smirk disappears. “Who is the beta?” “Reid-” He starts to stand and I backtrack. “You! You’re the beta.”

Everyone agreed with a nod. They had already discussed everything. It was just a formal proceeding that needed to be done with. Alpha stood, and with him, the rest of the room rose. He walked out, followed in turn by each person, leaving the hall empty. Sean was the only person left. He leaned back, a cold smirk tugging at his lips. Never before had a Beta been tried in court for murdering his own kind for shielding a traitor. He had to be the first beta. He was really dragging his title through the dirt. For her.
