I pull one out, glance at the first few pages, and then slip it back into its place before continuing. “Hmmm,” I hummed as I squatted to see the books at the bottom. I go the opposite way, painstakingly reading each and every title. “Callie!” Alice exclaims excitedly. “I think I found something.” I hurry over, seeing her pull a smaller black book off the shelf. There’s no title on this book, only a gold Baphomet overlaid on the leather. “The Book of the Beast,” I whisper, eyes lighting up. “I think you did find something.” She cracks the spine and I lean over, heart racing. And then the library doors open and close with a boom, echoing throughout the entire room. Alice and I both jump, and she quickly shoves the book into her cloak.

Her aunt gives her a small smile and nods, Celine finds the bookmark and opens to the page. The woven bookmark has a faded blue tassel and was made of woven threads depicting wolves running in a forest, at the bottom of the bookmark was an old wolf’s tooth with a hole drilled through to be able to tie it onto the bookmark. She puts it to one side to look at the page it had been marking. It looked much like many of the others she had seen flipping through. But its words had her feeling like her world was slipping through her fingers and she was unable to do anything to stop it.

At least, not me. The smell of old books hit my nostrils as I trailed my hands on the spines of the books, reading out loud their titles. "What are we exactly looking for?" I asked. "Thanks." I said with sarcasm lacing my voice tone. It felt like ages, going through myriad books and reading their titles etc. in the dark. I heard Damien plopping on the floor with a loud sigh. I was about to give up as well but then something caught my eye.

Priam took a deep breath and placed a huge hard bound book on top of the table. The surface of the book has this somehow thick build up of a combination of spider web and dust. Making it looked more gross with the peeling of its leather surface. I stared at the book for I don't long. Afraid to touch it, I looked at Priam with a confuse look on my face. "What is that?" I said. Priam pulled a chair and sat down. "I'm sure Loki have told you that I left a book for you to read when the time comes. Have you gotten your hand on it?" he said.

She pushed the thought away—she was getting way ahead of herself. As she slowly scanned down the pages, reading the words as easily as if they were written in English, she could feel her eyes widen in wonder and surprise. This selection was the longest and most complicated the book had yet shown her, almost five pages in all. Still, she was able to get the gist of it on her first read. She read the whole thing a second time to be sure she was actually seeing what she thought she was. “Anything worrisome in there?” Rave asked when she finally lifted her eyes from the book.

She had been waiting to read the book, but she was interrupted by unfortunate events the previous night. Flipping through the first page, she continued to the prologue where the story began. Arlene was too engrossed with the book that she didn’t notice that she had passed a lot of time. The book contained 30 chapters and she had read fifteen chapters at a go. She stopped reading when she heard her stomach rumble, so she closed the book and checked the time on her phone, it was 4 pm already. She turned on her data to check her i*******m feed and the writer’s forum she was on for updates.
