The lion's claws were tearing at his flanks. But Ashren wasn't a duelist. He was a brawler. He was a survivor of the Borderlands, where you didn't fight for points, you fought to kill. Ashren ignored the lion's claws tearing his skin. He twisted his head and clamped his massive jaws onto the neck of the goat. He bit down. Bone crunched. The Chimera shrieked a dual sound of a lion’s roar and a goat’s bleat. Ashren ripped his head back, tearing the goat's head clean off the spine.

The cabin shook with their force, Asher's wolf slightly larger as the older cousin, and his fur just as black as Akira's with white paws in contrast to the rest of him. There were no words to describe the savage rage with which they tore into one another. Akira's wolf lunged first, teeth snapping at Asher's throat, but Asher ducked low and rammed his shoulder into Akira's side, causing him to crash into the wall. Wood splintered and dust filled the air as Akira recovered quickly, leaping forward, landing hard on Asher's back. He sank his canines into the wolf's shoulder. But Asher snarled and twisted violently, knocking Akira off.

But no sound came. Just him—**Asher**, standing on four powerful legs, covered in black and silver fur, his head snapping toward a group of intruders. He lunged, tearing through them with precision, no hesitation. A blur of motion, of fury and power. There was blood on his teeth. Steel couldn’t seem to touch him. *Oh my God.* *Oh my God.* *What—what is he?* And then… he turned. Saw her. Even through the monstrous form, **his eyes met hers**. Something in them held. Recognition. A flicker of… grief?

Something he could definitely learn to do. We decided to stay for a little longer so I could spend time with my parents. Kiran was off in the distance talking with Dex and Ash. They all seemed to be hitting it off well. At one point. They started showing each what they could do I guess, because Kiran's arms were on fire while water was wrapped around Dex's arms. Ash was covered in scales, showing us all he was a hybrid. A wolf and a dragon, so that must mean that Ember is the same.

The kid shook his head angrily, and I left Sebastian to deal with the tantrums of a sixteen-year-old pup. I finally located Ryan and Patrick, running forward excitedly when I saw they had cornered Brady. Patrick was missing patches of fur. Superficial claw marks scraped through the bald patches, and he was hurt. But his determination seeped through as Ryan and he stalked forward. Brady’s white-gold fur was matted with blood, one eye was shut, and he appeared to have an uneven gait as he braced himself for the attack.

He whispered to her. Before long, Storm was standing on four paws, she was beautiful. She was all black with a purple tint. The triplets stumbled towards her, Ryder was black with white paws, Rebel was black with the tips of his ears and tail white and his little princess, River, she was black with a white heart shape patch under her neck, just like her human form, she was the cutest little wolf he’s ever seen. It also looked like her black fur was tinted a dark blue along with the boys. “Sugarbear, you’re absolutely gorgeous.” Blaze said, running his fingers through her fur. The little ones were standing next to her and then started growling at each other.

’ ‘are you sure? ‘yes, I want to meet him. I know he won’t hurt me’ I smiled. ‘he never would give me a second’ he went behind a bush and transformed. His fur was coated black, he looked fearsome and magnificent at the same time, the way he walked, anyone could guess he was of the royal linage. ‘nice to meet you. I am Valerie Red, ’ I introduced myself. ‘I am Ash, nice to meet you, my mate’ Ash mind linked me. Licking my nose as I sign of approval.

She stroked his fur and the damned beast purred like a damn cat when her hands were on him. Gaia playfully nipped his ear, and he licked her muzzle, enjoying her white fur. She wasn’t as wild as his mate, but she wasn’t passive. When Ashley took him down, she stood back and watched, waiting for an opening. Then lunged and knocked him over, giving Ashley a chance to stand again and attack again. They were a good team like that…

He’d filled out, and was skimming the ladder at six feet. “Asher, hey,” he said, with a grin, flipping his loose hair and two braids over his shoulders. “Bear Claw, you look good,” Asher said. The boy grinned, and shook his hand. “Must be the Indian genes.” Asher chuckled and nodded his head. “Must be. Have you completed your vision quest?” Bear Claw nodded, but his expression became grim. “There’s plenty of blood in my future. Oddly enough, the bear emerged as my spirit animal.”

That beast with fur of burnt gold, copper, and obsidian, sank its teeth into the slender throat of its mother, and shook until blood spurted from its muzzle. Imani lay sprawled out amongst a sea of pearls that had once been wrapped tenderly around her throat. She looked up at a sky of iridescent stars unblinkingly, that look of fury frozen forever more on her face. She did not witness her killer back away with tears brimming in their eyes. They shone with a light of sorrow and regret, of pain and bitter hope finally having met their end. When that multi-toned fur receded, and the massive canine body shrank into that of a human girl, the light still remained.
