"And I'll repeat the same thing if you dare try to hurt my husband!" She was about to say something as we both heard Kareem's voice. He opened the door and entered, from where I was, I could see him scanning the room. “He doesn’t need me anymore.” Caelan didn’t speak. He only watched me, as if observing something. I gathered my books together, calm in a way that even felt unfamiliar to myself. For a moment, I almost drifted into a daze. Was it possible that after five years of having my blood drained, I had started becoming more like a vampire too? Without love. Without hate. Unable to feel pain anymore. I turned and walked out of the study, gently closing the door behind them. It was deep into the night. The new room was old and worn down, but at least I could sleep in a bed like a human being again.

The impact never came. Instead, the blade cracked. It did not bend, it did not graze, it did not even leave a mark that I could see from where I stood; it simply broke apart as though it had struck something far harder than steel, scattering uselessly like a failed intention that had lost its right to exist, and the disbelief that followed was so complete that it swallowed the entire arena whole before the noise returned all at once in a violent, overwhelming surge.

Not now. l held my sword as l stood beside , Fabian as he weighed an old steel and new blade he just got. The intense feelings within me was sharp and shallow . Everything was breaking apart with screams, fire and steel clashing in the air but I didn’t let myself slip. I couldn’t. The world was breaking around me, but through the smoke, I saw him, Fabian....and in that moment he was the only thing keeping me from shattering. The assassin.

I asked, feeling the blood running down my face. “I should be the one asking you that. You looked so helpless a minute ago, and now, ha! I guess you can't judge a book by its cover.” He said, throwing his blade directly at me. The moment I dodged, he quickly threw a second one, slicing me in my right arm. Then he tried to reach for a third blade, but I raced towards him, wrapped my hand in his hair, yanked his head toward me, and slammed my forehead against his nose, breaking it instantly.

But it no longer dictated, She held her book in one hand, her blade in the other. And stared up at the creature built from her pain. “You think you’re me,” she said. The figure tilted its featureless head. “You’re not.” The pages that made up its body rustled. “You’re my guilt,” she said. “My shame. My failure. My regret.” She raised the blade. “But I’m not your host. I’m your author.” The blade sliced through one of the figure’s arms, The chapter heading there The Luna Who Lied was erased, Instantly, Gone. The monster screamed, a sound like thousands of crumpled voices.

Blinding, sudden, cruelly sharp. Bella gasped and found herself standing behind a marble pillar inside a grand estate she hadn’t seen in years. Chandeliers glowed overhead. Servants hurried past with lowered heads, carrying trays, folding linens, murmuring orders. Everything moved with mechanical precision, as though the house itself dictated their breathing. Her heart began to race. This isn’t right. This was Alpha Griffin’s packhouse. Her fingers curled into fists as fragments of memory clawed at her mind—Dave’s arms around her, his voice promising destruction for anyone who touched her, the Supreme Council chamber erupting into chaos.

I try to stand, but my body won’t respond fast enough. Nicholas steps closer, slow and deliberate because he's clearly enjoying this. “I thought you’d last longer,” he muses, tilting his head slightly. I glare up at him, breathing hard, forcing myself to stay conscious. He pulls out a blade, dark, sharp, and deadly. My eyes flick to it. And then, he drives it straight into me. A broken sound tears from my throat as the blade sinks deep into my side. Pain unlike anything I’ve ever felt explodes through me.

He grunted in pain and his grip loosened enough on her hair that she was able to dance away from him. Right into the arms of another shifter. This man was taller than Killian. His ham fist struck her ribs and she felt the crack of bone. She used her smaller stature to slide past him, her elbow coming in to her side so she could baby her ribs. She streaked through the crowd, blows raining down from all sides on her naked body, but no one could catch her to keep her still enough to finish her off.

His weak hands found mine as he tried to pry my fingers off the blade but my girl remained firm as I pressed the blade deeper into his chest. His grip loosened, his hands falling to his side. I released the blade, standing to my feet. “ In this life and in the next, you'd never make the mistake of taking what belongs to me.” I marched the blade down, his body jolted, blood rolling down his mouth. I closed his eyes, tossing his body into the flames as I crept to the window.
