I didn't know they were grave robbers. I didn't know your mother was their 'Subject Zero.'" He stepped toward her, the tension in the room shifting from fear to something heavy, electric, and undeniable. He knelt between her knees, his large hands cupping her face. "I have spent my life building walls to keep people out," he whispered, his thumbs brushing her cheekbones. "But tonight... when I saw that dots on your chest... Hayzel sat there glowering at the world in general, and Sparkle sighed because she knew her darling daughter was going to make her life a living hell for the next few days at least. “Well… That’s it then,” Sparkle said, forcing a smile as she turned to look at Kaleb. He wore that black leather jacket, and his jeans were faded and stacked on the toes of his battered work boots. His hair was again too long, his white long-sleeved shirt was open at the neck, and his brown eyes pinned her with an intensity that stole her breath. “Drive safely, Sparkle.” “Wow! ‘Drive safely’… That’s all you’ve got?” she asked, tipping her head to one side to study him.

Caleb nods and I continue, “They sent Colt here to find the Shadow Beings that’s what they call the Zobs. We need to gather all the bodies we have here and put them in Moon Beam pack territory. He is going to lead his team there and hopefully, after that, they will leave.” Caleb nods, “That sounds like such a fun birthday task.” He teases. I smile and stand up, “Caleb, I owe you everything. This may not be a fun birthday task, but I am really happy you are such a great Alpha and leader and you took in the rogue and her human companion.” I tease back. Caleb smiles at me and nods, “Let’s get to work then. We can get those put into place quickly and then your real birthday celebration can begin

He was a large commanding man, shaved on the sides with longer light blonde hair swept over to one side. A scar ran through his left eyebrow.
