I bang on the heavy metal door with enough force to break bones but no one comes back. I slump against the door. My screams echo off the cold metal and begin to taper off as the darkness closes in around me. It won't be such a bad idea to meet Babë now, will it?

“It begins with me.” The darkness smiles. And the world erupts.

She didn’t know the moon had shifted. She didn’t know Velise’s spirit was already moving. And she didn’t know the Beginning..the ancient force waiting for her..had opened its eyes. Outside, the Blood Moon glowed lower than ever before, casting red across the entire pack. Wolves shifted uneasily. Humans felt their bones tremble. Something ancient had been triggered. And Ember was at the center of it. This was the night everything truly began to unravel. The night the curse stirred. The night the Beginning awakened.

Everything vignettes into absolute darkness. **** Consciousness returns in excruciating waves. Meanwhile, the first black-robed creature smiled faintly. "Look, Elara... it all started again." And in an instant, darkness engulfed the room. Darkness devoured the room in an instant. Raven could not see anything. Her breathing was ragged, her palms cold and clammy with sweat. Her body trembled not only from fear, but also from the strange feeling that was slowly running through her. A subtle whisper swirled in her head, like a voice coming from a distance.
