Just another one of his dry, stupid jokes—something about his dinner being so terrible he was convinced the restaurant was trying to assassinate him with undercooked chicken. He'd probably attached one of those ridiculous GIFs he was always finding, something animated and silly that was meant to make me laugh.

It’s one I’ve watched with Tru before. During a scene the main character's female friend scares her, then the boyfriend scares her. When the friend jumps out to scare the character Tru says, “Oh goodness. You caught me having impure thoughts about your brother.” I’m not sure what came over me, but the moment the man shows up, I say, “Did someone say they were having impure thoughts about me?” Tru begins laughing. It’s harder than I would’ve expected her to laugh, but I suddenly realize all the tension she carried from the day is gone. This one joke made all her stress disappear. Maybe I should make her laugh every day?

It’s almost impressive.” His laughter echoed louder now, cruel and mocking, the kind that cut deeper than any punch. “You really thought you could play smart? You’re either brain-dead or just suicidal.”

The whole thing is so funny to me that I fall again on my side, laughing at the idea. My friends are more delusional than I am.

She deadass did save my life but something in the back of my mind kept telling me that was not the reason I was agitated to meet her. "Then tell me what the fuck the reason is, you stupid brain." I looked at him closely to see if he was playing some sort of sick, twisted joke on me, but his expression looked entirely serious. Although their laughs are too shrill for men to have. Ughh. If she were in my toilet I wouldn't even bother flushing it. My bath mat means more to me than her,” another scumbag commented and then noises similar to cackling geese echoed throughout the place.
