“There will be time for that later.” “I am not going anywhere with you.” “You already are.” Before I could react, two more armored demons appeared behind me. Exactly the welcoming committee I’d hoped for. “I can walk.” The first demon nodded once. “Then please.” At least he had manners. I followed them through endless corridors. None of the demons we passed attacked me. Instead they stopped, stepped aside and bowed, every single one. My confusion only grew. Why were they bowing? Who exactly did they think I was?

Rhea’s POV The demons came at us from all directions and by the time they were close to us; we were ready for them. I shaped my power into the form of a ball and threw it at the demons coming towards me. The ball of energy rolled through the demons, scattering ashes in every direction. But it barely made a scratch in their numbers. More demons took the place of the lost demons and again, they moved as a wave towards us while hissing at us.

"It would be foolish to stay and wait for you to attack." "How did you get so fast?" Lamia questions. "You were only just reborn!" "Demons get stronger by defeating other demons and eating their souls, and I've defeated a wide range of demons since coming back." Lamia hisses and charges at me again, falling straight into my trap. Behind me is a vast sea of lava, and I wait for her to crash down from the sky, and then I move out of the way, letting the lava eat her. "GRAH!"

I exclaimed cheerfully. Bastian smiled at my outburst and turned us into the park’s parking lot. He found a spot quickly and placed the car in park. He took his seatbelt off and turned in his seat to look at me. “Okay Ren time for a pop quiz. Are you ready?” I giggled and nodded, wiggling excited in my car seat. “How many types of demons are there?” “7!” “Correct and which type am I?” “Pride!” “Besides demons, what else is out there?”

I grumbled. “I see. And I smell brimstone because you’re in such a calm mood?” Isak asked, lowering the edge of his newspaper to arch his brow at me. I scoffed, absently waving away the puffs of brimstone that swirled around me. It’s a downside of being a demon. Generally, the brimstone would only happen if I had used my power in a fight, like when I used my power to break down a door in the Adio dungeons to rescue Khalid. However, if a demon is feeling something strong enough and isn’t mindful of their emotions, it can happen.

Since Conrad approached them, he chose to pose him a question, “What are the Four Demons?” After collecting himself, Conrad smiled and said, “There’s no point in hiding this from you, I guess. The Four Holy Beasts you people refer to are actually called the Four Demons. Imbued with Demonic Energy, anyone who consumes their blood will experience Energy Deviation and eventually become a demon. This should be a catastrophe for mankind. However...” As he spoke, he glanced at Thea.

I ask flatly, packing every simple word with so much threat, they all instantly understand what the reward in question might be. “N-no, my Lord,” the same demon stutters and backs away, hiding into the shadows just like some of his cowardly friends already did. “Very well,” I hum and the corner of my lip twitches with suppressed amusement. I truly love how despicable and malicious the demons can be, yet the moment they face someone who holds more power, all of them turn into scared little puppies who are ready to drop down, belly up, with as much as a simple snap of my fingers.

Like a specter, he weaved through the demon's blind spots, striking at its vulnerable joints with surgical precision. Each strike sent shockwaves of pain through the demon's body, threatening to unravel its very essence. As the battle reached its peak, the demon unleashed its most devastating attack. It reared back, drawing upon its immense power, and released a wave of infernal energy that rippled through the battlefield. The ground cracked, molten lava erupted, and dark clouds swirled overhead, heralding the unleashing of its wrath. Edna, Marcus, and Derek fought against the chaotic onslaught, their unity becoming their shield against the relentless assault.

He seemed to be in deep thought for a moment before offering, “I know I can’t answer much, but I can answer a few things for you.” If I had a tail, it would be wagging, “Really!?” “Yup!” he pounded his chest. I thought for a moment before asking my first question, “Demons are supposed to be all bad and scary from what I’ve been taught, why do they appear almost like angels and why are you guys helping me?”

FAITH “I’m so excited. Touch me. Feel me.” The demon purred, and I hesitated before grabbing both sides of his head. I had never had one react in this manner before. It was unsettling and quite possibly their reason for acting that way. “You’re excited, too. You claim to hate this, but fuck do you feel powerful doing this! You love making people suffer, don’t you? You’re just like me. You can feel me right now, but I can feel you, too."
