I cringe and my mouth turns sour. The top official glances around the table and stops on Drake and his best friend. “You might not know this, but Trinity is the best fighter we’ve had in hundreds of years, not just currently. I tripped over the edge of a rug and fell flat on my face. I twisted the door knob, the doors were locked. I heard footsteps behind me. Tristan set me up. “Oh, by the way the doors have added padlocks that only I have the key to.” Tristan’s voice echoed throughout the hallway. I spin around, my hair slapping me in the face to see him leaning over a balcony with blade in his hand slowly twirling it. And when he noticed that my gaze was on the blade, he smirked. “Are you into knife play and blood play? I think it’s hot. We should try it.”

The pack was in danger now. Dayton walked back then, holding two silver blades. They gleamed in the evening light. The edges looked sharp enough to cut through anything. “The men are ready,” he said. “All armed with silver blades. This will hurt those vampires badly.” He handed one to Damon. Damon took it, nodding. He swung it a bit to feel the balance. It looked good in his hand. Dayton stared at me next. His eyes were hard, like he was testing me. Damon watched too, arms crossed, waiting.

Max is in the middle of Sam and Damen and each of them holds their hands out to me, with Damen gently guiding my left elbow, Max holding my left hand, and Sam holding my right, they help me up the small stairs to my position in the middle of the triangle they are placed in. Dani roared as she pushed Nadine to the wall. Nadine fired, and a silver bullet lodged itself in Dani's shoulder. Dani screamed and released Nadine. Then, Dani began to convulse, and her eyes rolled over, showing only the whites. “What the fuck?” One of the lycanthropes asked, suddenly wary of Nadine. “She must have shot Dani with a silver bullet.” Trent said, going over to where Dani was, writhing uncontrollably in pain. Trent held her, and in the next moment, he punched Dani in the face, effectively knocking her out. Then, he threw her to the floor. After which Trent and his men shapeshifted to lycanthrope form, howling raucously.

He was thinking about what Trist had told him earlier. According to his investigation, the maid was the daughter of one of the warriors. And apparently they had poisoned Alpha's drink to kill him. But being immersed in his kids, Luna mistakenly took the drink and gulped it. Hence, he was here. For now, the main issue was how to treat Swift. Apparently his body was rejecting all treatments. But it was performing fine. It was like a self defence system in Luna, that was blocking everything. But. Till when? How? And these questions were enough to put Blaze on edge.

Hunter bent over and pulled out a chalice that I had only seen in books. “Don’t react.” Luca urgently whispered to me in our mind-link. As if he his words had control over my face, it was passive. Picking up one of the cloths, he allowed me to tie it around his hand. Stopping the bleeding so he will heal within seconds.
