Ella spotted me at the front and immediately pouted, complaining, “Celine, look at Alpha Leon! He insists on making me eat foie gras. Just her name, Derby, written in a precise, elegant script she didn't recognize. Frowning, Derby carried the box to her small kitchen counter. She sliced through the tape, pulling back the tissue paper inside. Her breath caught. Resting in a protective leather case was a sleek, lightweight pair of designer computer glasses. They featured a specific blue-light filtering lens, framed in a delicate, matte-gold titanium. It was the exact model she had stopped to admire in a boutique window weeks ago, off-handedly mentioning to herself how much she needed them because her current pair kept slipping and making her eyes ache.

She looked at him. “Find a bunch that already has more than twelve flowers so you can just swipe up the entire bunch as soon as you put the residue in your eye,” instructed Hayden. “We should all put some of the residue in our own eyes to be able to protect you from it,” he added, taking the vial from her. “There isn’t much so just put it in one eye each,” said Sprout.

I screeched. “That is the eye of a Newt.” I looked at her as if she had sprouted an extra head and frankly, I shouldn’t be surprised if she actually did that. “Relax, man. You should know that it is an illusion and not an actual eye. I thought it would be fun to have an eyeball in a witch’s home like the ‘eye of a Newt.” Fun?! “You are no fun! Party pooper!” Glenda complained before waving her hand again, and the freaky test tubes and vials vanished from the shelves to be replaced by vases and flowers.

It made her stand out. I was surprised to see she wore glasses. Photochromic lenses obscured her eyes, but they seemed to be the most interesting shade of bluey green. Said glasses didn’t appear to be a prop or some fashion statement either. They seemed to be corrective lenses. What the fuck? Wolves didn’t suffer declines in vision.

Elysian eyes snapped open, sweat forming on her forehead making her hair sticking on it. She saw white, the brightness of the light burnt her eyes making her closed them briefly before opening them again, she batted her eyes slowly to adjust to the brightness. She could listen to her breathing through the inhaler mask, heat coming from her nose made the glasses blurry. She turned her head carefully, an image of someone was blurry at first, she squinted her eyes a little to fix her vision until the image became clearer. She saw a man sitting beside her, his head was hanging low as his arms were crossing on his chest.

Eye scanning but, my guess is that only the Valastro's could open it. Oh well, let's try it. "Move your eye closer in here." I pointed at the little square-shaped thingy on the side. She followed as what I've told her to do but the gadget flashed a red color. This means that she isn't recognized. Pfft. Poor thing. Water started to form in her eyes so I rolled my eyes at her. "Please don't cry. You would look like Momo if you do." Except for her ugly pout which is upside down.

“Sit down,” Edwin said, gesturing to the kitchen table as he strode over to the fridge. I did as he said, my fingers instinctively reaching for the glasses. I put them on and looked around, smirking at how blurry everything suddenly looked. “Your eyesight is really this bad?” I asked. Edwin glanced at me over his shoulder and frowned. “They’re just for reading when I get eye strain. My eyesight is fine.” I shrugged, not fully believing him, and set the glasses down. For a moment, I watched as he began to prepare a pot of water for pasta, then crushed some cloves of garlic with the side of a knife and began chopping.
