My feet dangled several feet above the ground. “Shit,” I cursed under my breath, panic clawing at my chest. Going back wasn’t an option. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and let go. The fall was quick but brutal. I landed hard, my ankle twisting with a sickening crunch. Pain shot through me, and I clamped a hand over my mouth to stifle a scream. Tears welled in my eyes as I lay there, the cold earth seeping into my bones.

He meant *forward,* but his attention was on the core. The pillar loomed in the middle of the fused chaos, untouched by the fracturing floor. Everything else was in flux. It was the only fixed point. Another tile ahead tried to drop out from under us, carnival planks yawning over a bottomless dark. “No,” I snapped, not at the plank, but at the *fall.* “Shorten,” I thought, hard. “Half‑meter drop. Not pit.” The edge of the board lurched downward—but instead of falling into infinity, it stopped after a foot, snapping into position just low enough that we had to jump, not plummet.

Panic grabbed Vanadine’s chest as his left hand fell from the pavement. He hung by his right for a few seconds before his fingers gave out and he was scrabbling for purchase, fingers ripping at the soil and rock as he picked up speed falling down the almost vertical surface. All thoughts fell from his mind as his brain focussed entirely on stopping him from certain death. There was nothing to grab, nothing to catch hold of and he felt the phantom of death hovering at his shoulder. The drop would be over soon, the impact sudden and his death brief, leaving his broken body for the scavengers.

“Okay. You concentrate on calming your pup. I will see that we get through this shit safely.” Closing my eyes, I lean my forehead against his chest as I feel his touch against my skin, sizzling through my clothes. My heart leaps as it starts tingling, my grip increasing as I concentrate on talking to my pup about how we are safe, and Ace will make sure whatever is in those dirty waters won’t be able to hurt us. Suddenly, the ground below my feet gives in, and I fall into nothingness with an ear-shattering scream. Clenching my eyes closed, I brace myself for the fall, expecting to hit the hard floor as I wrap my arms around my belly.

Her eyes went crimson as the pain flooded over her. She realized she had to flee from him as quickly as possible. Her instincts shouted for safety, pushing her to keep a safe distance from him. She noticed that the lift was not moving when she looked at the floor number. “Why…. why is this lift not moving”

They didn’t say anything. They didn’t need to. They had fallen. They had broken. They had rebuilt. And now—they were still falling.

“How can I believe that? How can I trust anything you say when I know you’re capable of planning something so calculated?” “You can’t. I know you can’t.” He looked broken. Utterly destroyed. “But I’m standing here anyway. I’m standing in this rain for as long as it takes. I’m making myself a public spectacle. I’m letting the whole world see me fall apart. Because I need you to know that this is real. What I feel for you is real.” I was crying openly now. “Standing in the rain doesn’t prove anything.”

He asked, his voice deepening. “Please, don't do this” I begged quietly, my voice failing. His glare hardened. “You have 5 seconds,” he threatened. My heart was pounding as the tears threatened to spill. “5” he counted. The tears had already started falling. “4” he continued. I shakily started pulling up my shirt and tossed it onto the bed when I was done. My hands went up to cover my bra. “3” his glare remained the same. Now full-on crying, I took off my jeans and tossed them onto the bed.

Adam I stood transfixed to the ground like I was electrocuted. I'm really shocked by that expectation. I was shocked that I had to stare at the girl in complete shock. I could feel a different sparkle of shock run down my spine. I'm still in a great dilemma, I find it hard to believe that she just fell down for the sky. I couldn't fathom how she fell down from the sky. I stood still, staring at her with complete shock. This is really more than my imagination. I couldn't believe this. I stood with my legs, wobbling in fear.

I pleaded in a shaky voice, my knees suddenly felt weak, so I sat down, not minding that people were passing by and watching me. "Your mom collapsed and when the doctors examined her, they said she was getting worse and she had just a few weeks-" I didn't listen to the rest of what he had to say. I ran down the staircase as my chest tightened. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I kept pushing through the wind, running as fast as my little legs could carry me. Tears kept falling from my eyes but I didn't bother to clean them.
