After a long silence, she finally spoke to the guards. “From what I see, the right leg has some burns but it can heal with the right medication and ointment. It will take time, but it should recover.” “But what?” Caroline asked weakly, fear thick in her voice. Doctor Sharma looked at her for the first time. “Your left leg is badly damaged. It will need to be amputated. You will require a prosthetic leg.” Caroline’s world stopped. She stared at the doctor, eyes wide with horror. The words sank in slowly, like knives twisting in her chest. Amputated. Her leg. Gone. Forever.

" Isreal’s voice boomed in my ears along with Martin’s and the heart rate monitor that just couldn't stop beeping. Was I in hell? Because if this was hell, I wanted to get out, right now. I opened my eyes wider and sat up straight. My leg, I couldn't feel it, at all. Dashing my head at Martin, I yelled, "You amputated my leg?" I could feel the other one, it was in light pain but I couldn't feel my right leg. Martin shook his head and laughed, "Poor you. What are you going to do with one leg?" I couldn't tell if he was joking or not but the second I heard him, I ripped apart the blue sheet from my body and studied my limbs.

Luciano's POV The smell of disinfectant filled my nose. I forced my eyes open and met the doctor's grave expression. "Mr. Damiani, your legs were severely crushed in the car accident. To save your life, we had no choice but to perform an amputation…" Amputation? My legs… were gone? I lay there on the hospital bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. The phantom pain from my lower body—pain from something that no longer existed—was vivid, gnawing at me in waves.

She had definitely seen them when escaping… She struggled to process the words and shrieked, "What amputation? My legs are fine! They just hurt a little. How could you amputate them? What's your name? I'm filing a complaint!" As if wanting to prove something, she fought through the pain and struggled into an upright position. Then, she yanked the blanket away. She let out a piercing scream. "My legs! Where are they?" There were only two ugly stumps of flesh under the blanket.

I am taken to a dingy hospital on a bloodied stretcher and I wake up without a leg or an arm. My head is filled with images such as these. They change a little every time. Some of the times I die, at other times I lose an arm or a leg. It happened to someone else. It could have been me. This keeps repeating in my head. I keep telling myself how lucky I have been.

He would dance every time she would sing and he always lent an ear whenever she felt like telling tons of stories. She was looking up praying that Polly was just inside having the time of his life - lots of food, lots of attention and, the care he always needed, wanted and deserved. “Oh, Polly, I wish you are okay. I couldn’t run or do anything that would make them bounce now anyway. All I could do is sit and I could lie down and apparently I could feel sorry for myself. I had to trust Mary and the Moon Goddess. They told me I would come out of this. That they believed in me. I needed to work hard and I could get through this. But it wasn’t just the loss of my legs. It were the memories that still haunted me. Not having legs temporarily was already bad enough, but I kept seeing Mona’s face when she stabbed me. I felt really bad for Leia, she must have felt the same way about Mark. And she loved Mark. To have someone that you love, hurt you so much, that is like another level of cruelty.

She had passed away. Flashback off "Sorry, patient. This may sound cruel, but we will have to cut off your entire leg up to the top of the thigh." I turned my head, staring at the woman in the all-white outfit blankly. "You're going to cut off my leg?" I didn't feel bad before. I only lost the soles of my feet because I could use sophisticated tools to deal with it. But if my entire leg was cut off, wouldn't it be the same as me becoming someone completely beyond help?

“Penny, the people from the Fergersons are terrifying. They wanted to kill me. They chopped off my foot with an ax. I was really scared.” A grown man like him was scared shitless. Penny could not deny her distress. Previously, when she was staying with the Eastons, she used to be able to talk to this cousin. Though Nathan had done many foolish things, he did not deserve this fate. “Pen, I... I’m so scared. My leg…” Nathan had already been amputated and would be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. It was an undeniable fact. Penny did not know how to comfort him and only asked, “Are you sure it was the Fergersons?”

He smiled at me. I looked away and started swinging up high. "It's because..." He just watched me. "I'm not normal." I don't know if he heard that, but I hope he didn't. The swing moved slowly, and he was just looking at me. "I'm not normal either." He said and looked at his leg. I mean his amputated leg. "That's completely fine," I told him. "I can't play soccer anymore." He held tightly on his cargo shorts, and I heard him sniff. Is he crying?
