The Fire That Chose Me
Stone pedestals stood like ancient sentinels, each holding a piece of armor, an old book, or strange relics that shimmered faintly in the dark.
But it was the mural on the far wall that caught her breath.
A girl stood in the center, her arms outstretched, flames bursting from her chest like wings. Creatures bowed before her — wolves, ravens, even fae with glowing eyes. At her side stood a boy made of shadows and gold.
It was her.
And it was Aiden.
“What is this?” Evelynn breathed.
“It’s prophecy,” Aiden said quietly. “Long ago, the Fae told of a girl born with the Ember Vein — fire in her blood, power in her heart. A girl who would tip the balance between light and shadow.”
