His sighing chant faded into silence. I stood and stared for at least ten or fifteen minutes, during which I didn’t see even a ripple across the pond. After five more minutes, however, Mr. Trung rose to the surface. And I don’t mean walked back up the steps again. I mean rose. As in levitated. He floated up from the water, to his waist. He spread his arms, looked up into the sky . . . and began chanting again. And the fish. The Koi. All puckering in the water around Mr. Trung.

I raise my hands into the sky and shriek so loud it sends vibration through the water. My tail swishes back and forth as I look over the water as my people emerge. I point to the trawler not far from us, and people dive under the waves. I watch with pride as my people launch out of the water as I create mist. Screams sound from the trawler. The scent of blood dances in the wind and I breathe it in with a smirk on my face.

Then he left the fish on the grass. Within half an hour, Bishu and Anushka started picking fish from the water. Anushka narrowed her eyes and saw that Khokon did not get anything even after changing the place several times. He leans over the bank and submerges Barashita in the water until Fatna floats to the top. Barashi is on the ground. Now the thread is dancing from above. Crystal-clear water allowed me to see several large fish swimming lazily beneath the surface. I stepped carefully into the water remaining completely still and waiting. One fish drifted closer.
