LEXI'S POV Goosebumps crawled all over my skin because of a strange feeling I couldn’t quite understand. Chase’s face was so close to mine that I couldn’t move. I wanted to push him away, but my strength seemed to have left me. I lacked the courage to do anything at that moment. I was just frozen at where I am standing right now. I swallowed hard when he gently held my chin and turned my face to look at him. He was staring straight into my eyes.

But that was all I felt. He seemed nice. But I didn’t feel anything else. No spark. No butterflies. Just… politeness. Still, I let myself enjoy the moment. It felt nice to laugh, even if just for a second. Then Finn reached out and lightly touched my arm. It was a simple gesture. Just his fingertips brushing against my skin near my elbow while he told a joke. Probably innocent. Probably nothing. But the second his hand touched me, my skin reacted. Goosebumps spread over my arms. I felt it like a jolt. Not in a good way. Like my body was alerting me—warning me that something had shifted.
