I can't really relate to the main character missing his parents, but I can relate to his dislike for his living family members and his joy at leaving them behind and making new, unexpected friends. In the last chapter, the Villain won the war. He killed everyone. He killed the two main characters, but Harriet weirdly felt that wasn’t the important thing here.
