He shrugged, a muscle twisting in the corner of his jaw. “Still feeding the corpse blood, as if they think it will do something,” he said grimly. “There’s no sign of change, though Harry swears the hand-wound is looking better. Won’t let us look though. Won’t let anyone beyond the doorway, not even the ancients who come to donate. Harry will drink from them, and then feed the corpse themselves.”

“I need my bag in the truck, and my staff.” Mishka blinked at me. I felt the Hellhound shift uncomfortably at the mention of my staff. Let’s just say that a wizard’s staff is his most versatile and deadly tool. A wizard walking around with his staff is like rolling down the street with a tank. It’s intimidating, dangerous, and a blatant affront to everyone around. “If it comes back,” I said turning to the Hellhound. “I want all the protection I can get. I don’t want to end that fight in the same position as her,” I told him.

Tears formed in my eyes and I grunted in pain when I moved. I looked up at him. "Why??" I whispered with a weak voice as my vision started to blur. "Wh-why are y-you doing th-this. Harry? Harry's answer caught my attention. Harry talked about Sora's aura. He was the only one who could talk about it so openly without asking for anything in return. Don’t let me stand in your way.” Harry looked at the knob, then at me, then back at the knob, and the devil grinned. I expected something stupid like ‘open sesame’ or ‘alohomora’. But nope, he had to be dumb but piss me off at the same time as well.

Her smile faded instantly and the shock replaced it. Good. She realized I wasn't that push over sister she knew. Then, I turned and walked away before she could respond. Harry POV I kept my head down as I walked back toward the staff quarters. The house felt different today, the air was different. My phone buzzed in my pocket. I answered without checking the ID. “Hello?” “Harry.” My blood went cold as the voice came in. “Yes… sir?” I said. “You’re getting sloppy,” the voice said calmly, too calmly. “Letting Charlotte get too close. I hate carelessness.”
