The Imposter in my bed
On the coffee table, spread out like a dragon's stock, are piles of clothes, bags, and jewelry boxes.
"What do you think that one is?" Janice asks, pointing to a small, structured handbag. "Leather?"
"It's a Hermes Mini Kelly II," I say instinctively. "Epsom leather. Gold hardware. Resale value is around twenty-eight thousand dollars."
Silence.
Every head turns to look at me. Sophia's mouth drops open. Janice looks at me like I just started speaking Latin.
"What?" Eva asks.
I blink, the memory fading as quickly as it came. But the knowledge is still there, strong and clear. Before the crash, before the apron... I was a consultant.
