The academy buzzed like a restless hive. Banners of gold and deep crimson fluttered across the marble courtyard, bearing the sigils of the Four Castles: Noctis, Lupaxis, Wyverndale and Tenebrae. Students hurried through the archways, polishing their crests, adjusting uniforms, and murmuring about matches, rankings, and one thing that hung in the air like smoke: The announcement of the new Student President. Seraphine stood at the edge of the crowd, arms folded, her gaze fixed on the main board where the finalized roster was pinned.

A banner of Silverfang colors hung behind it, the crest of the Fenrir family bold against the fabric. And Selene stood on the platform. Her hair shone like spun gold in the sunlight. Her uniform skirt had been pressed crisp, her blouse cut just enough to draw eyes. She held a microphone, her smile sweet as poison. Students crowded the edges of the courtyard, phones already lifted, eyes sharp with hunger. Selene’s voice rang out clear. “Good morning, Silverfang Academy.” I froze. Kael’s grip tightened, his growl low. “Don’t.” But Selene’s eyes already found me. Her smile widened, her gaze locking on the mark glowing faintly beneath my hoodie.

The bundle unfurled with deliberate slowness, as though reluctant to reveal what lay beneath. Before them lay a banner of soot-black silk, its hems embroidered in molten silver and streaked with crimson. At its centre, the sigil of their renewed covenant: a flame coiled within the open jaws of a wolf’s howl, encircled by the jagged fragments of a broken crown. Toy cars littered the front path in a rough circle around an overturned milk crate. He pointed a wooden stick at my chest. “Are you a Slytherin?” he asked, speaking through a heavy lisp. “Sorry?” “You can only come in if you’re from Gryffindor.” Freckles dusted his nose like toasted crumbs.

I stood in the doorway, hands on my belly, making sure everything was perfect. The gift section looked beautiful, with piles of boxes wrapped in gold and silver paper, and a Harry Potter themed trunk made just for the cash envelopes and gift cards. We’d even painted their initials, M & K, on the front. The treat table was straight out of a sugar dream just as described as The Three Broomsticks Inn in the HP books. From personalized cupcakes, cake pops, Rice Krispie treats, cookies, and candy jars, all lined up next to the faux butter beer drink station. Sandwich boxes were stacked neatly on another table for those who couldn’t stay long. Everything shimmered with gold and black accents... si

Although I hated to admit I was getting a little too attached to him. Luckily for my car, I got to school safely with some time to spare. I quickly parked my car smoothly into a parking lot. The school was decorated with gold and white streamers on the roof of the school. Above the word ''Hollandville" there was a huge banner stating "Homecoming" in red. It was not too terrible as I had expected and seemed to be better than the one last year in which I heard they hanged plastic masks all around the school. Creepy, I know.
