"Poor baby. Maybe we should get you some puzzles. Or coloring books."
"Very funny," Hunter muttered, but he was smiling. "Though honestly, at this point I'd take a crossword puzzle."
"I'll bring you some tomorrow," I promised. "And maybe some different books. What do you like to read when you're not stuck in a medical bed?"
"History, mostly. Military strategy. Occasionally a good thriller." He paused. "Nothing romantic. Please."
"Noted," I laughed. "Though you might change your mind when Odette visits."
Hunter's expression shifted, becoming more guarded. "Is she... I mean, did anyone tell her about what happened?"
