Emma let out a defeated sigh but decided to wear it after not finding any other suitable option. As she stretched her hand back to open her zipper, it hit something firm, followed by a waft of warm breath, sensually caressing the nape of her neck. Fear rushed through her veins, rendering her body motionless. He's here! "Husband and wife don't hide from each other," he whispered, his voice growing huskier as their bodies drew dangerously close. She inhaled sharply, and an enticing blend of his luxurious cologne, laced with a subtle note of alcohol, enveloped her senses.

"Keep it steady!" I regained my footing between the bags, aimed, then took another two shots. One hit his upper arm, the other his shoulder, but he kept coming, unfazed by the gushing holes. I shifted my weight onto my other foot and grinned. I might not have stopped him, but the Thornblood dipped bullets had punctured him, binding shade and host to the same satisfying fate. I fired one last time, hitting him strait between his soulless eyes.

I remembered reading something about a few things that didn’t make sense at the time. Maybe it was possible it pertained to Caleb and his involvement in my life. There had been a few books that had information about Hunter. Even my Champion had been mentioned a time or two. I knew it was a shot in the dark since there was a chance I wouldn’t get any information from these books. Right now though, it was all I had going for me. Maybe I could even find something in the book about what I was experiencing now.

His companions were not far behind him and in the blink of an eye they were gone, leaving their drinks behind. Cathy threw her hands in the air. “Great! Now they have the rest of my money and I have half my orders.” “Teddy get Frank to get three trucks of our best wine and beers over here now.” Teddy went off to carry out his order while Theodore wiped his hands and with a smirk winked at Taylor who despite her boss’s obvious dislike of the man, blushed. Cathy rolled her eyes. The man was a charmer but she knew the truth about him. He was a dangerous Hunter who abducted and slit throats for a living. The kind of person she didn’t want around her.

I did a little twirl in the middle of the room and started combing the bookshelves to see what treasures I could find. I was just too excited to have found this place. I came across a smaller leather-bound book that had a weird symbol on the front and when I opened it, I realized that it was a history of the Hunter's. I decided to keep that book just in case I needed it. I was totally in my own world when I felt someone’s arms go around me and breath in my ear. "I see you found my favorite place in the house." My body shivered at the contact. I thought that I was going to melt into a puddle right then and there.

Hunter didn’t say anything, just kept looking at her radiant face, keeping his face on his propped-up hand. She pushed her locks behind her ear as they were falling in her eyes, but missed Hunter’s eyes capturing her action. These little actions had him puddle her feet, if only she noticed clearly. “So, what are we reading today?” She chirped excitedly, looking at the pile of books Hunter selected for them. A total of twelve books. It amazed her to see the tower of novels of different sizes and genres. Her eyes shone with greed to read them instantly. It wouldn’t be wrong to say she felt soulfully attracted to the pretty covers and the beautiful titles.
