Dahil sa pagkakasakit ng kanyang ama at pagkakalubog sa utang, napilitang magtrabaho si Nathalie sa bahay ng kanyang Tiyo Antonio bilang isang kasambahay, at ang kanyang ama naman bilang isang hardinero upang mabayaran ang lahat ng ginastos ng mga ito sa hospital.
