“I asked something.” She exhaled sharply before looking back at me. “It’s obvious. I feel like shit.” She turned back and continued on the walk. I scoffed as I walked over the damp moss. I found a small population of one of the species we were researching. “Look,” I called out, “there’s a pattern here; follow this trail.” She listened and quietly followed me. I heard her stumbling and cursing a few times before she called out, “Found it.” “Do you think this might work?”

Now he is in shock. "Brayden," I scream through mindlink, snapping him out of it. "I wonder how she knows about this spot and where she is going," he mumbles. She just shakes her head and then grimaces, clutching her head. "Go, now! He's coming. Take a left and then you'll see the woods. It will lead you straight to Crimson Shadow. Go to your mate," she instructs and I don't stop to tell her that there's no one living in Crimson Shadow anymore.
