Jake quickly pulled back and gently closed the small wound with his tongue. Two tiny marks remained on Alex’s neck. “I’m not turning you,” Jake said. “Just… tasting.” Alex laughed breathlessly. “That might be the craziest night of my life.” They lay by the fire talking for a long time. Jake told him pieces of his past—being turned in 1876 in London, living through different eras, and using sports like hockey to stay connected to the world. “Hockey keeps me sane,” Jake admitted. “But you… you actually see me.”

"Yes. Your staff brought her grievance to her workplace and refused to take my fiance's order." I raised my brow at Jake's choice of words. Grievance. Looks like his relationship with Zelda has hit the bottom and Miss Froggy is his new pet. What do you expect from the child of a snake? "That isn't what I saw." I folded my hands across my chest. "Then, what did you see?" Jake also crossed his hand. Foolish lad with manners as big as his brain. "I came in time to see your order being delivered to you, but your Fro..... Your Fiancée dumped the smoothie on the staff's face."

A heavy, calloused fist collided with Calista’s frame, slamming her onto the wooden chair. A sharp groan escaped her lips as she collapsed forward. Standing above her, her father, Jake, watched with a twisted smirk as blood welled from her wounds. “I love hurting you, do you know that?” he murmured, his voice dripping with malice. “It satisfies me, gives me chills, reminds me of just how much strength I still have left in my system, even at my age.”

​Before the engine could even cut out, the heavy oak front door of the main house slammed open. ​"Look who finally decided to bring the hostage!" a loud, booming voice echoed across the lawn. ​Jacob "Jake" Bill lounged on the porch railing, a half-eaten green apple in one hand and a basketball spinning effortlessly on the index finger of his other. Jake was nineteen, six-foot-one, with a messy, sun-bleached brown crew cut and sharp green eyes that always looked like they were searching for the nearest source of entertainment. He was Mike's childhood shadow—wherever Mike went, Jake was usually raiding the fridge or causing a scene close behind.

His usual calm voice shouted when Hua parked her car in front of the property. Despite having the title of CEO of a shell company handed to him on silver plater, Jake still dresses like he's a broke college kid, even though he graduated university a few years ago. His long black hair was pulled into a messy ponytail and his peachy pink hoodie has colorful stains of what Hua assume is oil paint. "JinLong!" Hua shouted back. "Get in here!" Jake laughed. "The door's over there!"

Her team all nod in agreement. “DDG?” I ask under my breath and Jake turns to look at me with his hands on his hips. He may be gay, but I know the guy could probably knock men bigger and scarier than me on their ass. Jake is an ex MMA fighter, but his passion is hair and flair, apparently from what Mouse found in his file. “Drop dead gorgeous. Come on, big boy, learn the lingo.” He says and we all chuckle. “Still, I don’t see why she would be jealous.” Melody says, her voice small and vulnerable.

The half ended just after the ball went through the uprights, and the Eagles ran into the locker room leading three to zip. "Do you want anything from the concession?" Jake stood up, stretching. I watched him, trying to look at him through eyes that didn't only see Leo. Yeah, Jake was cute, in a geeky, hipster sort of way. His reddish-brown hair was a little longer than I liked on a guy, but his eyes were bright blue and wide. Now they gazed down at me as his question lingered in the air.

"I would like each team to work hard to put me down in this race, we're going to test our speed, which is one vital trait that your enemy would never know you have, Speed and agility is like bread and butter, once you have speed, and the agility to make your moves, your enemies are dead meat" "Where are we running off to?" "Well that mountain up there, we would stop, rest and there I would teach you the art of war, both in your paws and your skimpy legs" "Ready when you are Master" Jake uttered staring at the brown vixen that stood on his paws, he had black spots. I knew he was from an ancient family that we're linked to healing all types of illness.

“Hey Jake. I’m really happy you’re doing okay now. I’m so sorry I couldn’t come see you at the hospital. I was—” Jake just laughed it off, waving a cheesy hand at me, “I get it, you had stuff going on too. It’s all good. Besides, I’m fine now, obviously.” He struck a dramatic superhero pose, flexing with Doritos still clutched in one hand. “See? Back to 100%. Ready to tackle the world… or at least the vending machine. Which has stopped working by the way, so obviously I’m going to be a major Karen about it and file a complaint.”

Jake made his way to the basement dungeon level of the building to where the interrogation room is. “Jake baby why am I in here.” Gidget asked as soon as he opened the door. She tried to put on her best innocent act. “I already told you it’s Alpha to you. And you tell me why you think you are here.” Jake stated darkly. “Oh, heavens I don’t know why I am here.” Just as she finished her statement, the guard handed Jake his phone with a video loaded. The video was the surveillance feed from outside the bathroom showing Gidget’s wolf coming out and then shifting before leaving. She was followed out by a man that he recognized as his rival from his college days.
