Adaobi sat on her right, whispering assurances every few minutes. Emilia paced near the vending machine, her anxiety too restless to let her sit. James stood by the window, hands in his pockets, glancing outside every now and then. But even in the midst of all this tension, Amara kept her distance from James. Each time he shifted nearer, she subtly moved away. Emilia noticed it first. Adaobi eventually did too. And James… he felt it, even if he pretended not to.
