“Ooh, I… I can’t do it.” They giggled as I pretended to be exhausted by their weight. “Momma, where have you been?” Cole asked, still laughing. “Well,” I said, pretending to think. “Momma went to work, but I promise I won’t be this late again. In the meantime, babies, meet Katie—your caretaker.” I turned to Katie, whose mouth hung open subconsciously. I knew what she was thinking, and her guess was right. “Hi, lovelies.” Katie immediately smiled, waving at the boys. “My name’s Katie, and I’ll be taking care of your needs from now on when Momma gets busy.”

Katie asked with a laugh, hugging Riley around the neck with one arm and hanging onto her popcorn for dear life with her other hand. Sending him to the reception to check out with Katie. Katie’s fresh from highschool, a shy girl with a blunt fringe that nearly covers her large, dark eyes. She reminds me of an owl, the way she peers over the reception desk. She’s shy too, and has only just been given her wolf. But she’s quick on the computer and painfully organised. She’s trying hard and I can recognise that need in her. A desire to find a place within the pack. To be useful to her village and family.

“Yes. And you are…?” Selena looked at Katie with a beam. This was a bright aura. She stared blankly at the girl’s beauty, almost to the point she almost lost her face. Fortunately, the miserable boy next to her woke up from that dream, hurriedly patted her on the shoulder, and woke her up. “I am Katie Gomez, a fourth-year student in the Information Technology department.” Selena rolled her eyes, then smiled again, "What a coincidence! I'm also a senior in the Faculty of Information Technology."

Dakoda Today is Derek's first birthday, so Kasey, Korey, Gage, and I are preparing for his birthday party. Derek loves watching Paw Patrol, so we decided to have a Paw Patrol theme for his party, even though his daddies wanted a surfing theme. We started by decorating the living room with Paw Patrol banners, balloons, and streamers. We even found a Paw Patrol tablecloth and plates to match. The room looked vibrant and exciting, just like Derek's favorite show.
