Like something still wrong. Now it felt like the nature of living things. Living things were not finished. They were continuous. The work was continuous. That was not a burden. That was the proof that it was alive.

I mutter again, quieter this time. Because the truth is, this isn’t going away. Not tonight or tomorrow and maybe not ever. So how the hell am I supposed to survive it?

Not just for herself, but for the life growing inside her. She took a deep breath and picked up the fork. With each bite, she reminded herself, she had to keep going. Because life goes on, no matter what happens. Lena chewed slowly, staring at the window where sunlight streamed in. The world outside hadn’t stopped. People were still going to work, kids were still playing, cars were still moving. Life didn’t wait for grief. It just kept going. She let out a slow breath and placed a hand on her belly again. This baby was a part of that life. A reminder that even after loss, there was still something to hold onto.

Just 83 days left. The truth is, I am still processing the thought that I have only few time left to live a life. I only have three months or shorter to prove to my self that existing is a lovely present. People may see me that I already accepted the truth, but that's the opposite. Everytime the clouds turned dark, I am forcing my heart not to cry out. I am giving smiles even though I got a lot of questions running back and forth inside my own mind. Why it has to be me?

Karma's POV One month later... People always assumed that life stopped when someone was standing trial for murder. It didn't, life had the audacity to continue. Patients still arrived at the emergency room, children still cried after getting stitches. Mothers still waited anxiously outside operating theatres. Surgeons still scrubbed in, made incisions, closed wounds and moved on to the next case as though the world outside those walls wasn't threatening to collapse. I never stopped doing what I did best, saving lives. The case couldn't stop me.
