“Burger or sandwich?”
He laughed again, then cleared his throat when she didn’t play along.
“Burger,” he muttered.
Norah nodded and turned toward the counter.
Across the diner, in a dim corner booth, a man in a gray hoodie lifted his phone.
He angled it just right — one quick snap — the camera flash catching faintly in his coffee cup.
He checked the photo: Norah, mid-step, light catching her hair, completely unaware.
Perfect.
He typed beneath it:
“Pretty, isn’t she?”
