We were back at her apartment, some king and queen television show playing in the background, when she gave me a strange look. “You won’t turn into some kind of monster if you lose control.” “The monsters who lose control aren’t scary. I closed my eyes when a sudden quake happened and a loud unexplainable slit appeared in front of the room nearest to us. Of course that ruined the moment, but what I'm most afraid of is that monsters suddenly went out of the slit when the quake stopped. I saw Coryfe’s hide open beneath sharp claws where the shield did not cover and heard Florien’s alarmed cries as the birds circled preparing for a second swoop.

The person in the room was silent for a little while. There are a lot of monsters out there that are really uncomfortable with humans that dabbles in magic. It generally comes down to two things. Either it’s because they see humans as cattle and anything that could change that power dynamic, like magic, is sneered at, at best—it does allow humans to step out of that victim role and deal with the supernatural crowd on a near equal footing, which a lot of monsters don’t like.

I needed to feed my monsters or there would be consequences. “Hi, handsome. Would you like some company?” I turned and saw an attractive blonde standing next to me. Perfect. I thought to myself. She wasn’t my usual but she would do. So I started my game again. Within thirty minutes she was walking out the door with me. We walked over to my car and I held the door as she climbed in. I smiled to myself as I climbed into the car and drove her to her death. This wasn’t how I wanted the night to end at least not with this woman but it would hold off my demons for now.

"Gooooooo!!!" The storm seemed to increase, and soon other forces emerged from out of nowhere, with howl sand grunts coming from within their shelter of rocks and branches as the monster's roar grew like a blasting rock shattered from howling winds, and lightening was exploding from the sky as sounds of battle, flying things, and a mysterious wailing wind took over. The monsters disappeared like shadows in a bright glare of sunshine. In the darkness, under the bush, heard noises coming from the direction of the great wolves, deeper in the shelter. The sounds however mixed with those of the monsters' magic, leaving behind shattered shoulders, torn fabrics and strange symbols.
