The space between the wrong
The metallic taste in my mouth doubles, thick and oily, coating my teeth.
Cole lunges forward, grabbing my waist and throwing us both back toward the open doorway. We hit the hall floor hard. He slams the heavy steel door shut, locking it with a frantic twist of the handle.
"Don't breathe, Nora. Just keep moving," Cole gasps. He’s coughing, a deep, hacking sound that shakes his whole frame.
I scramble up, my head spinning. The hallway is stretching out, the walls pulsing in time with my heartbeat. I look at my hands. They’re glowing. No, that’s not right. The air around them is glowing.
