I spent almost the entire trip reading through one of the books Peter gave me about the first war. I wasn't a history buff but I knew enough about human history to know that war was one of the worst things a country could face, only I had never really stopped to consider the details. Sitting in the comfort and safety of Cole's car and reading about death and destruction had my body shivering with fear. The book spared no details. Whole chapters were devoted to recounting particular battles listing the deaths and the destruction that occurred and I swallowed hard as I considered that soon we would be going through all of that again. He was mocking her in her dreams. She shuddered and picked up a book from Maribelle's shelf. It was a fantasy, a time when creatures of all kinds lived together in harmony. They band together to fight an evil force in the world and bring about peace. Peace between all of the creatures of the earth. It was a novel idea, an idea that plagued Olivia's dreams. If only she lived in a world where the creatures of the earth lived in peace and harmony. Maybe then, she would not have been at the mercy of Simon.

Maurice walked ahead as I scurried behind him, gazing around at the unending land of graves, "Growing up, my grandfather would tell me stories, about how people started to go missing in a bulk 50 years ago, the police had no leads, and when no one was coming forward with information, one after the other the cases became cold, and the public became outraged, started a fucking world war, end of the fucking world," he chuckled with a snort, looking back at me who was fighting to keep up, I was growing weaker and weaker with every step I took, "Why? Why were they fighting?" I swallowed hard, "Instead of trying to figure out where these missing people are?"

How terrified would they be when you speak about killings and blood? They enthusiastically told me about the happenings during the war and of course, I paid special attention to the information about the duke; what he wants, what he did, how he reacted, and how he brought the victory. As expected, there are more than what was stated in the novel. Well, the story is still about to begin in the next two years. I don't think it'll be much help for me in this timeline but at least, I get to know useful characters and get them to be my allies to bring my goal into reality.

I paused in front of a book that I deemed the most interesting. I pulled it out of the shelf and stared at it, contemplating whether to get on with it or not. Lyra was having a good time, although there weren't many women in the group, and that made many of the male rebels try to conquer Lyra. She simply rejected them politely and then continued to celebrate, which made her feel safe.
