Nyx was ahead, her scent burning through the trees like a trail of heartbreak and rage. Axel’s voice was laced with desperation through the mind-link. “Nyx! Please, stop running. We need to explain!” Nyx’s response was distant and cold, her words cutting through the link like ice. “There’s nothing left to explain, Axel.” Axel tried to reason with her, his thoughts racing. “You don’t understand, she tricked us—Liam was—” But Nyx’s growl was a low warning, her anger and hurt evident even through the link. “Don’t you dare use that as an excuse. You betrayed her trust.”

Then the shadows exploded. Dark energy crashed across the ruins like a storm wave. Warriors screamed as they were thrown backward violently. Several wolves slammed into trees hard enough to crack the bark. The chains holding Damian rattled loudly. Orion cursed under his breath.And then she appeared. Nyx stepped out from the darkness slowly. Her black robes flowed around her like smoke. Silver symbols glowed faintly across her skin, and her silver eyes burned brighter than I had ever seen before. The moment she appeared, every shadow around the ruins bent toward her.

“You dared to shoot Hades. Now you have me to deal with. Let’s just call me Nyx.” The name Nyx—the Greek goddess of the night—rolled off her tongue with a dark satisfaction. She watched as the life drained from Dean’s eyes, his body going limp in Big Tom’s grip. She felt no remorse, no hesitation. This was her world now, and she was claiming her place in it.

Xander shielded me, flanked by Alex and Sean. The car that came to a halt seemed familiar, as did its scent. The door swung open, revealing Nyx, who appeared bewildered. “Nyx?” Xander asked. “What are you doing here?” “I...” Nyx began, her voice faltering. Her body tensed as she emitted a low growl, her nostrils flaring as she scented the air. Everyone became uneasy as her eyes darted left and right. She lifted her eyes to watch Nyx and her lower lip trembled. She mouthed Nyx's name but Nyx didn’t let up. She took another step, bringing herself in front of Jade. Jade reached out and grabbed Nyx. Her eyes filled with crazed fear as she clawed at her. Jade knew what was happening, she knew what Nyx was doing. Jade knew Nyx would prove her previously said words wrong. Nyx stood there and let Jade claw at her.

Nyxie used her shadow powers to throw Kader, making Delirus enjoy the kill more. Ally felt dizzy, and her mom stared at her. Nyxie slowly grinned. "What?" No response. "What?!" Nyxie sniffed near Ally and cracked up laughing. "Tell me what's so funny, old woman! Ow!" Nyxie had smacked the back of her head. "Be nice, I'm gonna be a grandma." Salax nearly choked on air. "What?!"

Nyx landed lightly, crimson fire sparking under her boots as she stabilized herself. Her reflection lagged an extra fraction of a second, and its eyes burned gold. “Careful,” she said, scanning the area. “The realm reacts to us.” Kael lifted one foot slowly. The surface molded like wet mirror around his boot.
