Josh ran forward, throwing his arms around River’s shoulders. He felt his eyes prickle with sudden, hot tears. “River! I missed you!”
He sat to River’s right, while his father stayed busy tapping away at his tablet, barely looking up.
“Oh, little one, I missed you too. How’s being President at your school?” River asked, his thick brows lifting. His tired, sharp eyes matched their father’s features perfectly.
“Uhm… it’s a bit overwhelming, but I handle it well,” Josh replied, trying to regain his composure.
