The Great Library was a cathedral of silence, a place where the air felt like velvet and the dust motes danced in shafts of eternal, golden light. Anna moved through the obsidian aisles with a lightness she didn't quite understand, her feet silent against the polished floor. She was wearing a dress of gossamer white, a garment that felt like a second skin of clouds. In her arms, she cradled a stack of books so high they nearly obscured her vision,leather bound tomes of McKinnley history, scrolls of celestial magick, and genealogies that stretched back to the first dawn.

Calm Before the Storm (Isabella's POV) The library smelled like old paper and cedar polish. Sunlight slanted through tall windows, catching dust motes that floated lazy in the air. I’d slipped away after the snowball fight, cheeks still pink from cold and laughter, needing quiet to sort through the mess inside my head. Shelves stretched high, packed with leather-bound books that looked older than the pack itself. I pulled one down at random, thick, dark cover stamped with a crescent moon. Ancient Mate Bonds: Stories of the Moon Goddess’s Gift and Curse. My fingers traced the title. I sank into a worn armchair, opened it, and started reading.

Out of nowhere, a bone arrow sliced through the air and struck his chest with a sharp hiss. The arrow, upon contact with Jim's blood, glowed a sinister red. His face contorted in pain, and suddenly, his grip failed him as he plummeted from the sky. I dashed forward, my heart racing, and leaped to cover Jim with my body. The Haunts erupted into mocking laughter. "Jim, we've taken apart the bones of the mortal who wanted you dead and crafted them into these arrows. Take one more step and we'll pin you down in front of your own troops!"

This time the cloaked figure met him at the top of the stairs and said, "Not tonight. Let's explore." They walked deeper into the hall and entered a library and the figure pulled a book off of the shelf and opened the page without ever showing Anders the spine of the book. Anders was too trusting in his dreams, for dream casting wasn't a power known to either the Schatten or the Toten in the 1100's. To Anders this was just a silly dream and nothing more. "Let's read poetry this evening. The words are so hauntingly beautiful and you will make them just sing off of the page. Here try this."

I replied back as I stretched my hands to remove the painting but it didn’t move, instead it slid and revealed a medium sized box. I took the box out and placed it on the desk. It was an old mahogany box with gold engravings on it. “Sinclair” I opened it carefully and revealed a very thick brown greenish book with about 200 pages made of parchment or something like and had the title written on it with big bold handwriting: “BOOK OF SHADOWS” I smiled happily, I couldn’t believe that I had it in my hands and looked at Kevin who was still anxious saying: “We found it” he nodded his head and was about to speak when we suddenly heard an applause behind us.
