She struggled to push herself out of my grip as I held on tight. "I hate that name," she groaned. Roman was the warmest to me. Nothing reached her heat, she was the only heat I loved. Her head pushed up and she looked up at me, our chins touching. I gazed down, her eyes were so beautiful, like the Sun, they glistened. Her face was clear and beautiful, without a blemish or mark. Her lips were fair and plump. Sometimes I thought she was the Sun goddess she prayed to.

'Mother~' Esmeray’s lips moved in a soundless whisper as she stared at her in a daze. A shiver went down Esmeray's spine as the Cold Queen strode towards them, making the ground vibrate with each step she took. The Queen of Wastelands was channeling her dominance through the ground beneath, exhibiting a glimpse of the destruction she was capable of. Her jet black hair with red tips was bound in a high ponytail. Her ears with pointed tips were on full display. Then, she leaned in, her lips inches from his ear. "If I'm the Queen," she whispered, her voice a lethal, mean purr, "then I'm the one who decides who lives and who dies. And I've decided that the first head on the chopping block is yours." Devi's hand slammed onto her waist, pulling her flush against him in front of everyone. His obsessive grip was a brand. "I've been waiting for you to try, baby. But remember... a Queen is nothing without her King."

“You may have reached a point in your life where nothing matters, but that doesn’t mean you can just wake up, fall in love, announce a claim on me, and expect to win me over.” With a flick of her finger, the door behind them exploded with a deafening boom. “I’m not something you can have just because you can’t control your lust, Ryker Wraithe,” she said, now standing barely an inch from him. “I am the Queen who chooses her king…” She paused for a moment, meeting his wolf’s eyes, and added, “and that king is not you.” Her voice rang out in the room, her white-golden aura flaring with power. Without another word, she turned and left.

She wanted to cry out for him, but when she opened her mouth, nothing came out.
