“You are not human or one of us.” I broke the silence. “What are you?” I wanted to know. Her smell was very strange, lingering softly in the air. I couldn’t put my finger on it. It was like a sweet herb with a hint of something spicy. It pulled me in, triggering in me a hidden desire to know more about this girl. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat and balled her little gloved hands into fists.
