The path wound between jagged rocks until we reached a broken bridge that stretched over a chasm. The old structure groaned with every whisper of the wind. On the other side, faint blue symbols glowed, runes pulsing like beating hearts. Kaine hissed. “A trap.” I stepped forward, testing the edge. The wood cracked but held. “They think I’m stupid enough to walk into their spell blind.”

Voices carried through the storm - guards shouting, boots scraping, torches cutting thin paths of light through the mist.

This cave was really situated on top of a cliff, and this cliff was on one of the outer islands of the group. This cliff was not too high up from the sea level, so with Dicken’s skills, he could jump inside easily. There were piles of rocks around the cave, like stairs that led to the beach below. Looking to the horizon, the sea around me seemed borderless and was shimmering under the moonlight. The sea and the sky looked like they were sewn together as the stars reflected onto the water surface.

"I smell him," Khyrix murmured, his hand moving instinctively to the hunting blade at his belt. "He's heavily concealed his scent, but he's sloppy. Stay behind me." I wouldn't say he was sloppy. We slipped into the mouth of the cavern. The temperature dropped instantly. we moved deeper into the dark, the faint, golden glow of a small fire flickered .

Selene crouched near the fire Luka had built, running her hands over the warmth, grateful for the break. “We’ll have to cross the glacier field by nightfall,” Luka said, sitting on a nearby rock. “Once we reach the base of the cliffs, we’ll have to go the rest of the way carefully.
