Behind him, Thane rose slowly too, his gaze burning.

The remnants of the tent’s torn flap burst wide open. And through it came figures emerging like warriors from legend—bloodied, snarling, glorious. Their eyes glinted, clothes torn, weapons slick with gore. At their center was a towering presence with copper-threaded black hair and cold gray eyes—Alpha Cochram. Beside him, a younger but scarred figure brandished a twin-headed axe—Alpha Cormac. Alpha Hijar, grim-faced and wounded, had a bow ready in his hands. Then came Alpha Billam, his white cloak splattered with red, face alight with fury.
