The Book Was Better Novels & Stories

"Yeah, I know. Perks of being a neighbourhood kid to the college. Anyways, I called you up again to tell you this. I gotta go. Bye!" "Bye!" I wished back and hung up. I spent the next couple of hours talking to my family and reading Cecelia Ahern's 'Perfect'. I was done reading 'Flawed' before I came here and started reading 'Perfect' yesterday morning. Honestly speaking, I was fond of 'Perfect' more than 'Flawed' because of many reasons but especially of one big solid reason: I shipped Carrick and Celestine more than I shipped Art and Celestine. I just loved the chemistry between Carrick and Celestine and that made me so addicted to the book.

It could be stronger for some and softer for others. But the book was vague. It spoke in riddles more than explanations. I frowned. “That’s it?” I muttered. I flipped through a few more pages but found nothing new. It did not explain the mark clearly. It did not explain the pull I felt toward Lucien. Disappointed, I closed the book and stood up. “I’ll try another one,” I said quietly. As I turned to move toward the shelves, my hand brushed against my hair. The pin loosened.

Instead, I simply raised my hand and slapped him across the other cheek. Everyone gasped, and the entire room fell into stunned silence. This time, Jayden was truly stunned. He stood there in a daze, his eyes wide with disbelief and simmering fury. "You, you dared to hit me?" I calmly withdrew my hand, my expression serene, my voice flat. "So what if I did? Jayden, it's time you faced reality. This isn't about revenge. I married Charles because I like him. In every single way, he's a better man than you."

I had to be better. I reached down and grabbed the book.

He almost smiled. They finished lunch and she went back to the couch and he went back to the desk and the Sunday afternoon continued its slow patient self outside and inside the apartment held them both in the particular ease of two people who'd had a small disagreement and resolved it inside three minutes and didn't need to mention it again. At four she closed the book. "Done," she said. "The whole thing." "I read fast when the structure is good." "What did you think." She looked at the ceiling. "It's the best book I've read in two years," she said. "The backwards construction is the whole trick. By the final page you're grieving something you didn't know you'd been losing since page one."

I need him to spend time with me so I can crack all the holes in this house but aside from that, I did enjoy the book. "You lived it huh" "Yeah, I lived it." "Well, I am glad you lived and loved it." He said "You know you are right, people don’t just read books, they live it and when I was reading it, it felt like a movie in my head, the only difference is that it’s my imagination." "I told you, books are great." "I totally agree with you on that. Anyways you have something to do today?" "Not really, why?" He asked "I want you to recommend some more novels for me."

After spending time rereading the book, I realized there were many repeated pieces of information and that the story wasn’t moving forward—it kept circling the same situations. So, once again, I’m sorry. I truly want your experience with this book to be the best it can be. That’s why I’ve revised and improved the earlier chapters (specifically chapters 7 and 8), and I’ve restructured and refined chapters 11 onward. I removed repetitive actions, dialogues, and events that were slowing down the pace. I hope you enjoy these changes and that the story now feels clearer as you continue reading.
