Romans & histoires The Hunting Party Summary

"We just didn't have anywhere else to go." The words struck harder than she expected. Because they contained no defense. No argument. No demand. Only truth. And truth often hurt more than accusations. The next morning brought another problem. A hunting team failed to return. Not late. Missing. The distinction mattered. Hours passed. Then more hours. No sign of them. Concern spread quickly. Search parties prepared immediately. The territory had lost hunters before. But rarely without explanation. Especially experienced hunters. Especially close to home. Kael ordered multiple patrols into the surrounding forests. The search continued throughout the day. By sunset, nothing had been found.

Staff members lined the hallway, bowing their heads respectfully as we passed. They didn't seem surprised. Mayhap he had told them about the wedding or it seems like he did this a lot. Bringing hot young men with disheveled appearance and flushed skin home. Yes, I was hot. Their faces remained carefully neutral. But I knew they saw everything from exactly how I looked to how Alessandro was carrying me like a prize he had won. Maybe he did. He took me up the spiral staircase, his long legs going two steps at a time. We moved down a long hallway lined with paintings and expensive furniture.

I hollered as I shifted to hunt down the bastards. Carson quickly caught the first two and eliminated them. The stupid assholes had thought coming back together half a mile from the clearing was going to help them. We crept through the forest silently, searching for the last rogue. We scouted the forest for hours and had just picked up its scent when a frantic call echoed through the forest. We froze misstep, trying to pick it up again if it was uttered again. Moments later a low-pitched bird call followed by a rapid, stressful one. Fuck. We looked around anxiously. ‘Falcon, hunters are here. What do we do?’

Without hesitation, he lunged forward, muscles coiled with lethal precision. The deer bolted, hooves thundering against the earth, but Kane was relentless. He gave chase, swift as a shadow, until he closed the gap and sank his teeth into its neck. The animal crumpled, lifeless, under his grip. The hunt stretched on, each youth testing their skill, until the sky hinted at the festival’s approach. At Kane’s sharp whistle, they regrouped. Gavin returned with a fine catch of his own. Together, they tied the animals, hoisting the weight onto their backs.

At the center of it all stood Kaelen already mounted on a black stallion that looked as dangerous as its rider. He saw me and said. "You ride with me." No explanation. No choice. He reached down and pulled me up behind him with easy strength. I had no choice but to wrap my arms around his waist and press close to keep from sliding off. His body was warm and solid and I tried not to think about how it felt to be this near to him. The hunting party moved out through the main gates and into the forest beyond. This was different from the Blood Hunt grounds. These woods were older and deeper and the trees grew so thick overhead that the morning sun barely penetrated through the canopy.

I pressed trembling hands to my face, trying to force the tears back. But there was no time. A horn blared across the grounds. Deep, loud, echoing. The Hunt was beginning. I had to wear something appropriate --- The entire pack gathered at the forest’s edge. Warriors shifted into wolves, fur bristling, teeth gleaming. The visiting packs lined up alongside them, snarls and howls rising into the sky. Damien stood tall, his chest puffed with pride, while Serena clung to his arm, her smile radiant. The Alpha King was there too, a few paces ahead, his crew standing like shadows behind him. His gaze swept over the field like a blade.

Zavan The game was close. Its desperation hung taut in the air as the tracks we followed grew sloppier and bloodier. We formed a loose sprawl amidst the brush as the hunting party spanned the forest. I signaled the formation to fall back as I pressed on in pursuit. The Deltas who had joined me remained within a howl’s reach– some of them eyed me in passing with fear, and others with fascination. Their preoccupation was of minimum import to me so long as they conducted themselves accordingly.

The tension escalated as the hunters' gazes locked onto the group, suspicion etched upon their faces. Harry's muscles tensed, his protective instincts flaring as he braced himself for a confrontation. The hunters approached, their expressions hardened with determination. Their leader stepped forward, his voice laced with an undertone of authority. "Have you seen a man named Sangre? We've been tracking him for days," the hunter demanded, his eyes darting between the members of the group. Levi, ever the diplomat, stepped forward, his voice calm and measured. "We haven't seen Sangre. We're on our way to the School, seeking answers ourselves."

After all, the hunt was just an excuse. I looked down to survey my surroundings. Tents were spread throughout the forest, and fires burned, a convenient formation of barracks. The hunters, mostly the gentlemen, and their attendants moved in perfect order, preparing for the hunt, and chefs were standing by, ready to receive whatever animals the hunters provided. Although more than a hundred people gathered, including guests from Northern, only a few participated directly in the hunt. Jermaine will, of course, participate, while I haven't seen Alpha Rohan yet. I just saw his aide in flashlight formation among the Northerners.

The siblings that works together to catch the big preys got double or triple amount of meat than those who enter the group alone. At three o'clock suddenly a sirens rang in the whole village , the young women and young men including the men that didn't joined the hunting team needed to climb the mountain to bring down the preys . Hui Yang and Woo Shan present their house to go to the mountain .
