"You want something?" "Yeah, sure," I replied without looking at him. I stood there watching everyone. Dad was now talking to the older couple who were watching me earlier. Lily was sitting with a girl and smiling politely. I started walking towards the kitchen to find Kai. “If it awakens," the words stopped me. I pretended to use my phone while trying to overhear the conversation, but I could only hear fragments of it. "The next full moon," a woman responded. I started getting uneasy.

I turned and looked at Elina, and she did the same. "You know, Luna, the moon is one of the most beautiful things ever made. It's just that no one has gotten the chance to see the beauty yet." I smiled and nodded at her words. When she said that, she was right; the moon was one of the most beautiful things ever made, but in some ways, it was also one of the most dangerous.

I whispered. I noticed the moon was starting to become less fuller as the clouds moved away and I could see it clearer. It wasn't a full moon tonight as I had thought earlier. It made me a little sad. “The moon is beautiful tonight, don't you think?” I slurred out. He hummed. “It is so fascinating to watch it all the time. I love watching the moon, you know? People always gaze at stars and say how pretty they are, but I always search for the moon in the sky—full moon, to be precise. Ask why.”

The Moon Festival night was finally here, and I could feel the excitement buzzing in the air like tiny sparks dancing on my skin. It was unlike any night I had ever experienced. The sky was clear, and the stars were scattered like glitter across a dark blanket. But the most breathtaking part of all was the moon. It was big and round and glowed a deep, dark red. I had never seen anything like it before. It looked like a painting come to life—haunting and beautiful all at once.

I sat down, taking a moment to collect my thoughts and observe the celebration. The pack was in high spirits, and it was clear that everyone was excited to celebrate the full moon. I, on the other hand, couldn't help but feel a little out of place. Just as I was starting to feel like I was going to be stuck in my own little world for the rest of the night, I heard a sweet, honeyed voice behind me.
