Pure fury raged through my veins as I screamed, "ABIGAIL!" I moved with Ceasar to where our child was being held, her eyes locked with Ceasar and a growl errupted from his chest. Most of our pack has shifted and stand on high alert growling and snarling at the 20 rogues, but the one in the middle, the one holding my pup, I know is my beloved grandfather, Vincent DeLuca.

They did not do anything to stop them. And right now, I had no more room for weakness in my world. I refused it with everything that I had. My hands curled into fists as I drew in a deep breath, savoring the chaos around me. Chaos was my ally. Chaos was my strength. Chaos was the one thing that I could rely on in a world like this. Theon stood quietly in the corner, his eyes wide with barely concealed horror. His disgust was evident, etched clearly into his features, but he didn’t dare speak a word. Wise. I looked down at my babies, their tiny fists opening and closing. My sons needed a pack. They needed the best protection they would have. And Damon, for his wickedness, was still an Alpha, still known by all. The strange man was too much of a risk.

I have no idea who this man is, but one thing is for sure, he is not a normal werewolf but a high one, his clothes could vouch for that. Now, I fully couldn't go back on reading so I folded the book and stood.

To tell the truth, I also felt that I was dragging Logan down. Right then, a freezing voice suddenly drifted in from outside the doorway. "Father." Everyone turned their heads simultaneously. Logan walked inside with slow, measured steps. He had just concluded a pack council meeting, lingering wind and snow dusting his shoulders, and the gaze in his eyes was terrifyingly cold. Theodore furrowed his brows. "What? Am I wrong?" "Are you completely blind to her current situation?" he sneered. "The entire continent knows she was discarded by Raymond. With a reputation like that, how dare you claim her?"

And at the center of it all, undefeated, untouchable, was Kane Shawn. Standing at 6'5", with a body carved from years of brutal discipline, he was a titan among men. His blonde curls were damp with sweat, sticking to his forehead as he rolled his shoulders, his enormous arms flexing with ease. His skin glistened under the dim lights, his six-pack rippling with every movement. But it was his face that truly set him apart a masterpiece of sharp lines and perfect imperfections. His light blue eyes had the power to pierce through a man's soul, making even the most confident opponents hesitate. His lips, full and sinful, often twisted into a smirk that made women weak and men envious.

I sluggishly climbed the back of the Lorry, trying to buy us time. Standing at the back, my eyes searched the road, hoping my mates would emerge, but no car came through and slowly, I began to accept that they might not arrive on time. The last of us got in the back of the truck, and the attackers communicated with themselves to get ready to leave. I was still crying when I heard a growl. I looked in the direction of the sound, and my heart soared when I saw Tiger, Vinn, and a giant brown wolf that I guess was Maxwell's wolf advancing. Their eyes locked on me, and I could feel their rage.

I squeaked, my voice way too high-pitched. Thankfully, the elevator doors finally opened. I bolted inside, pressing myself against Dad, my nerves all over the place. I wasn't a fan of Archie Garland, per se, but come on. The guy was a superstar. My best friend had posters of him everywhere. Even Mom liked him. She called him "the pretty boy with claws," which was why Dad recognized him instantly. His most famous role? Logan, in the Wolverine reboot. And ever since, his career had exploded.

Theodore seemed to have tightened his jaw again, "Maybe he'll spare some of the older male children. Raise them as his soldiers. But if it's too much trouble or they need too much care, they'll be dead." I swallowed. "How are you so sure?" I asked. He seized up even more and tilted his head back so that his eyes were gazing at the treetops. "He's well known for being ruthless," he said, "It's common knowledge." I shrugged, "To who? Nightingale borders Pheonix yet until this war, none of us had ever heard of him. How are you so familiar with him?" Theodore bit his lip as his arm unravelled from my waist and he took my hand firmly instead.

She somehow landed behind the dresser unharmed and inched to the edge of the dresser to see what was happening. Logan was struggling to raise himself from the ground and hissed as he moved his shoulder. His blue uniform was open on the left shoulder, a black lining surrounding the hole in the fabric. Under the missing fabric was his bright red flesh, blood trickling out of the wound. Logan pulled his own gun in front of him again and fired back at Jamie, who dove out of the way of his bullet. Logan launched himself towards Terra and tucked behind the dresser as well. He slammed his back against the dresser and leaned his head back, breathing deeply.
