Wanting something I couldn’t name. What was wrong with me???

He said with unreadable expressions. " No!! I would never allow anyone in my life. I would not allow another man in my life again. " I said. " Never say never... The knowledge was a heavy burden, a constant reminder of what could never be. In the silence, I confronted the truth: some wishes are destined to remain unfulfilled, some dreams forever out of reach. The realization was a bitter pill to swallow, but it was one I had to accept. The ache in my heart would never fully dissipate, but perhaps, with time, it would become a manageable sorrow, a reminder of the fragility and complexity of human connection.

And then it becomes too late to confess and the regret stays with the person forever. I missed my chance too. I wanted to tell my little brother Liam how much he means to me. I wanted to tell him how much he lighted up my life. I wanted to say many things to him but I can't. I regret it but somewhere in my heart there is this feeling that he already knew all this. Then to my parents, I wanted to hug them for the last time. I wanted to tell them how much thankful I am that they have raised me with so much love. I wanted to thank them for making me understand about how to courageously face all my life problems.

And if I could tell my younger self one thing before all of this—before heartbreaks and court folders and sleepless nights and learning how terrifying love can be— I’d tell her: never grow up. ────────────────────────────────────────────────────
