Lifting a hand, I motioned for the others to stop as I continued to let my eyes take in the area. I had always known that Doragon were more primitive than other packs, but I hadn’t expected it to be to this extent. Up ahead was a large black castle with flags that rose into the sky the color of blood. Stakes with what I assumed were the heads of their enemies were scattered around the grounds. Some of which still seemed to be fresh, while others were in different forms of decay. The whole thing was encased by a large metal gate with sharp spikes, ensuring that no one could escape and, even more importantly, that no one could get in. It seemed that infiltrating the area was going to be more d

He gritted again as we rounded the corner to a part of the castle I had never seen before, with white edelweiss flowers that decorated the huge stone walls and large blue-tinted windows. “This is the old fort, a few of the residents stay here with some of the upper-level handmaidens.” Igor breathed, and I caught him jamming his hands in his pockets out of the corner of my eye before nodding, swallowing thickly, and avoiding the eyes of the guards that stood unmoving at the entryway as Igor moved to whisper to them before coming back to me.

I take a deep breath when I see the servants, guards and most of my advisors standing at the castle entrance ready to receive us. The last stronghold of resistance to Kertian's rule was Starling Castle. Armed with twelve siege engines, the Kertians laid siege to the castle in April 104. For four months the castle was bombarded by lead balls (stripped from nearby temple roofs), Ghaetilian fire, stone balls, and even some

"Besides, this castle is in the Jazmore Forest, isn't it? It must be pretty close from here." Eden backtracked. "They're not in Dasford anymore." Megan's eyes were outsized. "What?" "After Yagur released them both... Rudo's leg was almost broken and then raised to a boat that headed to another area," Eden explained. "Almost broken? Then someone's preventing it, is it you?" Megan's index finger is lifted and points spontaneously at Eden. "Herol did it. Now I'm out." Eden then pulls Megan's hand out of the room even down the stairs to get out of the castle building. "Where are we going?" Megan asked, surprised by Eden's sudden invitation.
