I whispered weakly, my voice barely a breath now. My eyes fluttered and the world tilted. The last thing I felt was the steady, powerful rhythm of the wolf’s run beneath me. Then everything went dark. ***************** I woke up slowly. The ceiling above me wasn’t white. It wasn’t cracked or stained or familiar. It was wooden, dark beams running across it. I looked down and saw blankets pulled up to my chest. My skin was clean and bandaged. An IV line ran into my arm, clear fluid dripping through it.

“Knox, wake up.” No response. Just a sharp exhale and another tremble. Sweat beads at his temple. His hands are fisted in the sheets. His breathing turns shallow, rapid. “Knox,” I say again, louder this time, shaking him. “Knox, wake up—please.” But his eyes snap open—and they’re wrong. All white. No pupils. No black. Just… white. I freeze. He’s not awake. I can feel it in my gut. See it in his blank, focused stare. He’s trapped somewhere else. Some memory or nightmare so deep it’s clawed him open.

Stars POV- I woke up covered in sweat, I barely slept having nightmares all night and these cuffs cutting into my skin, leaving them feeling raw and bloody. I knew Willow didn’t get any sleep because of me. I looked over seeing the sun streaming through the window, I had no idea what time it was though. “Willow, wake up.” I started to try and shove her with my shoulder to wake her up. Her eyes slowly started to open, barely looking up at me.

Ashley’s POV The sunlight filtering through the sheer linen curtains of my bedroom was too bright. It stabbed at my eyes, forcing me to drag myself out of the heavy, drug-like sleep that usually followed a night of high-adrenaline peaks. I stared at the ceiling, a pristine, coffered expanse of white and waited for the realization to dissolve. I waited for the memory of Julian’s icy blue eyes and his predatory job offer to fade into the fog of a champagne-induced nightmare.

I WOKE up with the blinding lights surrounding me. I continuously blinked my eyes and allowed them to adjust to the bright lights. I could see Ian standing where he was from the rearview mirror, looking like a statue that had been abandoned by the world. That night, I had a nightmare. I dreamt of the day my sister passed away. I was kneeling by her stone-cold body while crying my heart out, with Ian and Lucy standing nearby and staring coldly at me. I jerked awake from the dream, drenched in cold sweat.

The applause and cheers from the audience were like thunder in his ears, both thrilling and bewildering. Then, as the reality of his victory sank in, Bless's face erupted into a radiant, gap-toothed grin that could light up the entire room. His dimples deepened, and his eyes sparkled with pure joy. His body seemed to tremble with excitement, and he couldn't contain his excitement any longer.
